      Lahzo's Workbook

Heeelllooo. I'm Lahzo, I've been on the forums for a few years now. I don't post very often but I'm trying to get more involved. I was part of the Intro Course but decided that I'd try my hand at the DILD course.

To begin with a question, am I doing something wrong in my DJ?
I write down my dream with much detail, I date each page, and I title my entries. My dreams just seem to be rather lackluster when it comes to vividness. I recall 2-4 dreams a night so that isn't a problem.

I like to talk, I'm a student at university, and I'm trying to find some native spanish speakers to talk to! Anyways, I hope I get to know some of you!

      Welcome Lahzo, what a surprise!

Are all your dreams like that, or do you get some vivid occasionally? Mine are like that too, btw. Although I do everything the same each day, except my bed time warries. I get a few barely remembered ones, a few for 3-4 lines in my DJ, and a few full page ones. I would say it differs, and that's normal.

But you could try some B6 on occasion, or 5HTP. B6 increases vividnes and details, 5HTP stops your REM at the beginning of the sleep to give you a REM rebound towards the mornig, so REM is longer and dreams will be of better quality. Also better chance for LD, since REM is longer, will give you more time to realize something strange or just a spontaneous LD.

There was a recent post in Intro zone that was entirely in Espanol. You can try and PM that person.

Ok, here is an article where I put all that you need for having a better chance at a DILD. Collection of techniques for DILD.. There is a short paragraph about daytime awareness, that I believe has a huge part in getting lucid, but also in getting your regular dreams of better quality.

It's based on premises, that if you going through your day as if on auto-pilot, just doing your rutine, you will behave same way in your dreams. But if you start paying attention to your surroundings, seeing everything as if it was something new, paying attention to details, colors, sounds, smells, you will start behaving like that in your dreams as well.

      Here is more about awareness:
      self-awareness (sageous)
      dream yoga (sivason)
      ADA (king yoshi)

Please post your progress and any questions here. Happy dreams

I've tried B6 before and it worked wonders but I'm trying to bring myself to a point of self-reliance for lucid dreams, rather than needing supplements. I take a daily multivitamin that has quite a bit of B6 in it and I feel as if that's enough for me to be comfortable taking.

Last night I slept long enough to have about 5 dreams. I wrote down 2 dreams using a long-ish paragraph, which is normal for me. I remembered 2 other dreams but they were those lack-luster dreams I spoke of. All I can remember from them is that one of them took place in a school with one of my close friends, and the other took place in some dark and creepy woods at a cabin. I've decided that I'll dedicate my weekdays to increasing recall while I spend my weekends attempting to lucid dreams.

Perhaps one of the reasons that last night was quite unsuccessful was because I tried using a new mantra to incorporate the wanting to lucid dream with the need to remember.

Yeah, mantras are best used just one per day, as not to confuse the mind. Although I frequently mix them up too. Oh well. When I remember, I say thank you for my dreams and what I liked about them - the datails and such. Our mind listens, all we have to do is tell it what we want. And I ask for more dreams like that. Try it, you have nothing to lose.

But you know, majority of my dreams are like you say. Nothing special, I'm not saving the universe, nor I can recall details for a full page. Maybe 2-3 times a week I get a nice detailed dream with a good plot.

Oh, and I'm not sure what you LD mantra is, but it should be a firm intent, instead of a want. A "want" is for our mind as "meh, maybe". But an intent is "tonight it's happening". Think like a pro.

It helps if you make a plan of what you want to do in a LD. Write it in your DJ as a contract. I did this once and it worked. "Tonight I have a lucid dream ..."
Draw a picture or find one on internet. Find a video of it on youtube and get excited while watching it and imagine yourself being in that video. make that video a last thing you watch before bed. Then daydream about it as you falling asleep.

This will sound insane, but you can practice your lucid during day. Stand up in your room, pretend you just got lucid and start acting out your dream. I used to practice my RCs and stabilization like this and I kid you not, it showed up in my lucids. Until I practiced yelling "stabilize" and "lights", I never heard my voice in my dreams ever. Untill I practiced stabilizing by rubbing my hands and touching my arms, clothes, I have never seen myself in a dream before ever. Again, you have nothing to lose. Just don't forget to put "holy shi*t I'm lucid" emotion into your practice.

I had quite a bit of luck this weekend for lucid dreaming! I went to visit my friend at her school in New York and had one while I was there. I fell asleep on her dorm floor and had one of the most disgusting and vile dreams ever:

There was a shoot-out at my old neighborhood in Florida and I got hit with a bullet. It blew my jaw off and I couldn't speak at all and was bleeding everywhere. I ran into somebody's backyard and they handed me a grenade. I pulled the pin and held it to my chest. It blew up and I became a ghost while simultaneously becoming lucid. I wanted to see how people would respond to my death and started at my mom's house. It was absolutely horrifying. My "dream mom" just sat on her bed and cried incessantly. I wanted to join her because it was so upsetting but I told myself it was only a dream. When I finally grasped that it was, in fact, a dream, I went to a house and summoned up a large "ghost" party. We went swimming and just kind of hung out.

It was quite fun! Minus the mom crying over her son dying.

Holy... now that's intense! Wow! But I guess it helped you to get lucid. Hey, we take them any way we can

I have returned! And I am, again, successful!

I had the longest lucid dream (not saying much) last night/this morning after my puppy jumped on my arm and jolted me slightly past the "event horizon" of lucid dreaming. I kept my eyes closed and then started to see my room like I was getting up and moving around, I picked up my PS3 but it looked like a PS1. I realized "Hey, I don't have a PS1.. this is a dream." and boom!

I tried to touch things, spin, and think in the dream to improve lucidity and it worked. I walked out of my room and dragged my hand across my wall (it felt really great) and wandered downstairs. When I got downstairs I went through the kitchen and into the laundry room and straight outside. There was snow all over the ground but I could feel the heat from my blankets.. it was like a 80 degree winter, snow included. It was amazing. I continued to just walk around in the summer winter for a few minutes until my brother woke me up completely!

      Summer winter - that's awesome!

So your WL puppy got you lucid? Once my cat got me lucid. He slept on me and as he was fidgeting, kept getting me almost awake and asleep again and again, untill I got lucid. But even if it was a dream puppy, that's same cool.

Even more luck a few days ago! I was sleeping at my brother's new house (he moved up from West Virginia) and I slept on the floor. His dogs barked at something and it woke me up and I tried to fall back asleep. I fell ALMOST asleep and caught myself, then was catapulted into a lucid dream. The feeling was like nothing before and the visuals were amazing. It was like, in Avatar, when they are put into the body of the Na'vi and they see the blue and white tunnel!

So when I became lucid I stood up in my brother's house and walked around touching and feeling everything. I decided I wanted to go somewhere cool! I thought about those three tier highways that large cities have and went. I found a car parked at the side of the road, hopped in, and drove around for a bit. There was nobody on the highway so I could get out and look over the city when I deemed it necessary. I kept driving for a few minutes and came to a sudden drop off, so I parked, and sat down looking around until I would wake up.

Aw man, that scene you describing - I tried to memorize it, because I thught it would be really cool to use that when I transition. Did you feel like falling or flying/being dreagged?

That's so awesome. And it sounds long too, great job! I only drove only once in a lD, it was a georgeous black dodge charger, with smokey windows, black leather and red accented interior. And mind you, I'm not really into cars.

Do you know what your car was?
