Looking at hands...dream sign or stabiliser??

Hi there

I understand looking at your hands helps you to realise your dreaming and thus gain lucidity. You say, 'oh. my hands are deformed'

my question is this

say you've seen your hands are deformed.

The tips to stabilise your dreams are looking at your hands and making orders like 'stabilise lucidity now' and 'increase clarity now'

So..I'm wondering

do you examine your deformed hands?
and when you examine them to stabilise, do they magically change from deformed to normal and stay normal throughout the lucid, stable, dream?

You can look at your hands closely to make the dream create more details, as well as rub them together to ground your physical body in the dream. I haven't looked at my hands more than once in a lucid dream, but every single time they've looked deformed or "off" in some way. When I've continued to look at them, they didn't turn "normal" and instead stayed like they currently were. I could move the extra digits and see the hand clearly, which was pretty weird!

so technically your body stays deformed even when your lucid?

Well, it's essentially the same as when you're not lucid; you just aren't aware enough to notice distortions. The nature of the dream's creations stay the same, if that makes any sense. It's just your awareness and you having control over the dream that's different; although if you focused and really imagined your hand to have 5 normal fingers, I'm sure it would. Not the most exciting thing to do in a lucid, but still.

everything will still feel real?

Yes, everything should feel very real. Textures feel like real texture, food tastes like food (most of the time

), etcetera. Although the vividness and realism of a dream can vary and it can sometimes be dark or blurry, usually in lucids things are rather clear. If you're in a place where it's dark or blurry, walk through a door and expect it to be bright and clear outside.
