      Question Senses...(discussion)

      Hi guys,
Now that i think of it...the only sense that i seem to use in a lucid dream would be sight (and occasional hearing)...
I tried to remember if I experienced any senses such as touch(feel),taste or smell...
The only time used smell was in a semi-lucid when I had to put out some flames that were going to burn me...
I wanted to check whether the liquid in the bottle I saw near me was water or not...When I smelt it..It smelled like alcohol...
      I don't remember tasting or
Now,your turn...have you ever used any senses apart from obvious sight and hearing?

I think touch is a really interesting and memorable experience in dreams. Such as rubbing my own hands, touching the rough surface of a wall, or the touch of another person's skin. With TV and music, we are all so used to fabricated sights and sounds. But to be able to touch something that isn't real... that makes it a very uniquely immersive experience.
I am sure about illusion. I am not so sure about reality.

Touch is indeed amazing. In real life when we touch something, we confirm it is indeed real. Doing this in dreams always increase the clarity and makes me awe struck at how real stuff is. The most awesome sense though has to be taste. Everything I eat in dreams tastes amazing, and in a LD that feeling is even more intense.

I don't have a memory of smell yet though. Will try it out in my next LD to stabilize the dream even more.

Agreed...Video games would be included in the list...
I've jumped in a pool my last lucid and didn't even feel the water touching my body or the temperature/coldness of it...Maybe it was because I was because the part of me jumping in the pool was viewed in 3rd person, nonetheless i rarely feel touch apart from when I emphasize the feeling when rubbing my hands

having flawless touch is a great advantage...how is that possible that you can't focus on an object? O.o

no not really its just something I'm not use to, it might go away with time but its sort of cool being able to focus on every thing in my field of vision at once.

Well, considering I use super-senses all the time for fighting, taste, sight, touch, smell and hearing are always present. My fav so far is touch, using it to get a mental image of the place was just great.

Hukif: Do you use to touch with your "mind" so to speak? And does it stabilize the dream for you automaticly when you do? When I started focusing too much on the tate of the dreamfruit I had, the dream faded away real fast. Which sense is the most important one to keep "focused" to make the dream stable? Sight right?

I don't get the mind part, but yeah it stabilizes the dream to some degree. I don't know about sight, I was completely blind once and had to rely on touch alone to know where the stuff in the dream was, and when super-senses are activated, I can pretty much "see" with my other senses, like echolocation, which I think is the closest thing.
