      Trouble walking

      Hi all.

I feel I'm actually getting the hang of lucid dreaming now, and have found a lot of success especially taking naps in the late morning or early afternoon, and I don't always have this problem, but I was hoping to find some help on it.

Often once I'm lucid I have this sensation of paralysis. Today I had probably four successive lucids that all began with false awakenings following the last, and every time I was thankfully able to realize it and RC, but upon walking into the hallway outside my bedroom my legs were just heavy as rocks. It was usually accompanied by the presence of a dream character that I was trying to get away from I think, because in both instances they were friends of mine who for whatever reason seemed hostile upon seeing them. First the dream would start to break down, and I was able to stop it from doing that by rubbing my hands or whatever else, but upon trying to walk or run away I would only move very slowly or not at all. I actually found a faster method for some reason was getting down on all fours and running forward on my arms while letting my legs float behind me (weird, I know). I just want more freedom of movement I guess. And I'm sure some of you have experienced this before, so any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: Another thing that I just remembered happening is that one of the friends actually attacked me and tried to strangle me or something, and I tried to strike him in the face but my fist just lost all momentum and once I touched him it just barely tapped him. I suppose that's sort of the same problem as the walking thing but I've been considering what it would be like to fight in a dream and would like to get past this whole paralysis thing in general. Thanks.

hey dude, these both are dream signs for alot of people, Lead Boots and Slow punches, and i have also had instances where DC's were hostile to see me. My advice would be, as soon as you are lucid to do a full stabilisation and uses all of your senses, feel the grass/carpet, smell the air, look around, taste anything. Then in terms of confrontation, confidence is all you need, you can beat anyone, it is your dream and everyone else is not real, if you feel slightly unconfident just completely ignore the hostile character and focus your mind on another task, you will find that they will just disappear. I also like to go out side, i find it more peaceful and easy to gather my thoughts.

That's a good point. I think part of the problem was the suffocating environment so I don't know why I didn't think to just go out the door to the outside instead of further down the hallway. Thanks for the input.

In your experience is it also just as easy to have the dream character transform into a different person? If so, do you achieve that by asking them to change or by focusing your own perception of them in a different way?

yeah i really find that as soon as i get outside i feel much more relaxed and free, and usually (for me) i found it hard getting somebody to transform for me, i found it easier to just go and find the person that i wanted, like shout their name, imagine them around a corner, or imagine their voice etc

Yell out "I have the power", ""Light as a feather" "I'm walking now" and mean it. It works.

I have had some similar problems. For example sometimes when I go lucid something messes up my vision so I create glasses to put on and it fixes my vision. Maybe creating crutches will help with walking or maybe taking off your shoes? Sounds weird I know but if you think it will work it probably will.

It's confidence I think. I used to have no balance and always fall over. But since one time I shouted "GIVE ME SOME BALANCE!" i got it and i never lost balance since. If you think you're going to fail, you will. Just trust that it's in your mind and you can control it. It isn't a physical restriction.
