Fully lucid, but cannot change the dream scene

Pretty much all of my LD's come from DEILD/WILD and I always begin the lucid dream in my bedroom. These lucid dreams are ridiculously vivid and often I have full lucidity - I can recall my LD goal without effort, DC's know they are in my dream, I am certain I am dreaming etc.
I can do simple dream control such as flying and changing the weather which is fun! The high level of lucidity is awesome but everything is so real and vivid that more advanced dream control becomes a problem.

Since the lucid dreams always start in my bedroom, my main goal is to teleport somewhere else. I've tried the 'behind the door' technique, but this never seems to work - mainly because my dream house feels extremely real and it's hard to expect/know there will be another world behind the door! I've also tried walking through mirrors, though this always takes me to a parallel universe (which creeped me out - the DC's had a strangeness about them).

Anyway, in my last lucid dream I attempted spinning with my eyes closed, which didn't wake me up, but caused a black hole to appear in my bedroom. I jumped into it, thinking it would take me to a different scene but I woke up . I'm thinking of trying visualization during the spinning and just belive that I'll teleport. Anyone have any other ideas?

You might have better luck just flying to your desired location.

I have never been lucid enough to try this, but it's an idea. Try to get a movie projector of some kind, like the ones they have at the movies. The movie that plays on it should be the destination you want to go. When it's playing on the screen, jump into it. Easy as pie!

Report back and tell me how it went.

I feel the same way man! The behind the door technique has never worked for me. I even get scared flying lol! It just feels all too real. I have to do like 100 RC's before doing anything potentially life threatening haha.

I have tried this before but ended up losing lucidity (one of my earlier lucid dreams). I'll try this again, thanks for the reply.

Haha, just in case it's real life! It's cool to have hyper realistic lucid dreams though. I remember once the dream was so real I spent about 10 minutes making sure it was actually a dream!

I've done something similar to this before. I jumped into a blank TV screen but just phased through the TV. In my next lucid I'll make sure to try the movie projector technique. Or even change the channel on the TV and then jump?

You could also try jumping into a painting, or really anything that displays your desired location.

In my experience, expectations play a big role in dream control. If I genuinely expect something to happen, it will every time. If in the back of my head I expect it to not work, then it won't.

Just try to eliminate all doubts, because that's probably the only thing holding you back.

Have you tried simply leaving the house? Like you, almost all of my WILDS/DEILDS begin in a dream version of wherever I went to sleep, and this environment remains quite stable as long as I stay inside. When I leave the house, initially the surroundings will look a bit like my street or backyard, but I don't have to go very far before it transforms completely into something very different, an unpredictable dreamspace. The environment will likely be easier to transform once you're not working with a space whose characteristics are reinforced by memory and expectation.

Another technique I recently attempted successfully involved transforming my environment without leaving the house at all. I was in my dream house but wanted to be in a forest. First I "found" a suitable houseplant (one that doesn't exist in WL) and stepped close to its foliage, so that its leaves and branches were blocking my field of vision. A moment later, I found myself huddling among some undergrowth in the woods. So depending on the environment you're trying to create, you might use (or create if necessary) props in your dream house to help you transform the scene.

Caught a false awakening and had an LD last night I stabilized and went out to my street to try out some of the methods. Just to be sure I began by trying the spinning once again but this didn't work. I only recalled Verre's method of using a plant to block my field of vision, to teleport to a rain forest. I tried this but got distracted by some curious DC's - probably wondering why I had my face in a plant?! I found that funny, was about to try again but woke up. Next time I may have better luck and I'll try out the other techniques suggested. Thanks all for replying

Has anyone tried changing a dream scene and only end up getting a hazy, distorted form of it? Like going from lucid to thinking about the scene as if you weren't lucid?
I just tried changing the scene using the covering your eyes, picturing the scene, and then uncovering the eyes technique.

If anyone has had that problem but learned how to correct it, I'd like to know how.

For someone with only ten posts you seem to have an impressive grasp on what you're doing.
Changing the scene has been the hardest thing for me to do. I wish I could offer some great insight or idea, but I've had trouble with this for years. All I can say is: "Me too!"

We're pretty much in the same place. I had a lucid dream last night where I was in my yard most of the time. While I had some dream control (last night I walked on water, which was pretty cool) I can't seem to change the scene much. Last night I tried to walk to my destination and I made it across the street but the dream ended not too long after that. I have been able to change the scene a couple times but not consistently. Once I flew to my old high school. Once I changed the scene by shaking my head until the colors were all mixed up and it reformed into a new scene. Its hard to explain, and one time I managed to order my bedroom closet's door to be a portal to the Lucid Crossroads. That time was the clearest memory, I was very confident that it would happen, almost cocky, and it wasn't instantaneous. I had to try a couple times. Basically what TheSpiderSilva said. But there is almost always a little doubt in my mind when I try to change the scene.

I've had similar experiences with the dream going to void if I fly too far or phase through a wall. I'm still working on increasing my teleporting/phasing. What I've noticed is that when I'm successful it seems to be linked to having a strong goal or intent backing the purpose of the next dream scene. Sageous also talked about the concept of 'having a dream on tap' in one of his lessons in regard to WILDs. Possibly deeply visualizing a particiular scene during the day may help create the environment when you phase into another area in the LD. I hope this helps!

Dont try to change the dream scene, that is impossible. Instead, realize the truth.

True, but that alone will get you nowhere.

A few nights ago the way I got to my destination was somewhat fun. I had a WILD, but couldn't see anything right away. I took advantage of the darkness by envisioning where my chose destination "is." Then I flew to it, in the dark.

Deciding where it "is" was a process similar to a dog either figuring out where to poop or doing circles in the same spot to take a nap. No real logic, just instinct. Where did my subconscious feel that my destination should be? That's where I'll fly.

That's a pretty interesting method - I might try it. Would you say your state was similar to the black 'void' that comes as dreams collapse? Also, how long would you say it took to reach your destination?

I guess so. You could try doing it when a dream ends, but I don't know how successful you'd be since I did it when I first started dreaming. The advantages of the darkness is not having to pass through obstacles to get to your location and also the fact that if it's not actually a real place, you don't have to deal with the cognitive dissonance of having it being located in the real world when it isn't (which could possibly be bad for dream stability, depending on the dreamer).

Just something I thought up at the spur of the moment.

True monster-san! Yet, then we find it is not the dream scene that changes, but ourselves.

LucidYogi, there are infinitely many techniques and I encourage the trial and error in finding the one that works best for you! even more, with the correct consciousness backing the technique they will all work for you.

The strongest inhibitor from being able to go where you want to go, or do what you want to do, is doubt. If you doubt yourself or your ability even in the slightest, a stray thought that you may not be able to accomplish your goal, or anything of the sort, then no matter how bad you may want to accomplish the goal, you will not be able to. Work on letting go of doubt.

Generally, teleportation requires one to envision where they will end up, and to do so with much clarity. You should know exactly where you intend to go, for if you have no idea, or a general idea with no clarity, you can literally end up anywhere! And generally that 'anywhere' will only roughly match (or super literally match, with no inbetween) the specifications of the place you wanted to visit. A good rule of thumb for practice is to teleport to different areas of your room, then go outside (if there is an outside in your dream), and teleport to different landmarks you see around you, increasing with distance as you grow more comfortable. Hold the entire image of the location and the surrounding environment of the location in your mind's eye (which will increase your visualization abilities in both waking and dreaming realities over time), and then do whatever you feel will trigger the actual teleportation. For some it's closing their eyes and opening them again, for others maybe a wave of the hand or a snap of the fingers. Do whatever feels immediately natural, and let go of anxiety, doubt, and anything else limiting to the mind.

LucidYogi - I could have written your original post!! Exactly the same thing happens with me!! I think I was rushing to leave the house and do something fun and everytime I opened the front door I woke up! So frustrating! I've had slightly more success now that I take the time to stabilise my dream in the house doing reality checks and stuff. I then leave the house by jumping out of a window or through the front door! Last night I managed to fly over the village ! There was a man walking his dog just staring at me and I remember thinking he must think im crazy 😂 Still not much luck changing the scene or going anywhere exciting though! I'm gonna keep trying!

So funny! I'm exactly the same! Not all of the reality checks work for me! For example when I try and push my thumb through my palm it feels exactly the same as in waking life and when I plug my nose I can't breathe. It just feels so real that like you I'm scared to risk my life 😂

If I were you, I think I would use dream characters to my full advantage! You can just tell one where you want to go and ask them if they can take you. Just for example, if you want to go to a beautiful open field, ask your friend to show you one. If you want to go to space, ask a DC to go on an adventure with you. You could also "employ" a DC to help you create a machine that will allow you to transport yourself anywhere you want. Alternatively, you could just ask your dream to show you the way to get where you want to go. In my last lucid dream I asked the dream to show me something awesome, and I ended up flying through our solar system. ^_^

Highly realistic lucid dreams must be beautiful, but they sometimes come with the price of heightened doubt and fear in the dreamer. Like others, I'll also tell you that doubt is your real enemy here. That's why I think using dream characters (or just the dream itself) will help you--because by doing that you're taking some of the pressure off of your conscious mind and allowing your unconscious mind to do one of the things it does best: be spontaneous and imaginative!
