I think most likely you have seen the girl before in your neighborhood, only you had not noticed her, a stranger passing by, or rather your conscious self did not notice her, but your subconscious noticed, and incorporated her image into your dream. Remember that the girl in real life is most likely nothing like the girl in your dream. If you told the real life girl about this dream, she would most likely be freaked out, so I do not recommend doing that. Now the reason why you incorporated her into your dream may be because you subconsciously noticed this stranger, and thought she was pretty. You could try approaching her, if a good excuse presents itself, like if you see her in the grocery store and can think of something to say about something she is buying or something like that, or you could ask around and see if anyone you know, knows her also, and whether they could introduce you to her. However, if you ever do approach her, remember not to draw any assumptions about her based on the dream. The dream girl had her looks, but that's it.

JoannaB is right. It is generally agreed upon that the brain isn't cabale of creating a human face. So every time you dream of someone "new," they aren't actually new. You have seen them at some point in your life. That being said, it might have literally been for one second when you were walking around a crowded mall. You would not have remembered them consciously, but your brain would have stored their image away. But yeah I would definitely hold off on telling her about the dream, even if she also happened to do lucid dreaming.

Interesting. I like it when there is so much synchronicity between waking and dreaming. But of course that might just be the subconscious sorting out what you experience during your day, as Rickey suggested. On the other hand, if you are 100% sure that you never saw her before, I would believe you - or at least be open to the possibility - in having precognitive dreams. After all, no one can claim to have figured it all out, what dreams are - or waking reality for that matter -, where it all comes from and what it means, so the meaning of it is ultimately what meaning YOU assign to the experience. Either way, please let us know what you find out...

I would disagree here, just look in the mirror or at someone's face. The brain creates a visual experience out of randomly scattered photons each time you do that and it is not - like you are suggesting - remembered from previous experiences. So in general ALL experience is new and created in the immediate moment (even what you call memory and recall of a visual)

Yeah, I think you have saw this girl in waking life before. Even if you just caught a quick glimpse of her and immediately forgot her, your subconscious could've stored her in your mind. That doesn't mean you shouldn't try to talk to her if you so desire. You never know what might happen and your mind clearly considered her significant enough to remember. I wouldn't open with, "Hey! I dreamed about you before." That may creep her out .

Longest sentence ever....haha. In all seriousness I wouldn't think too much of it. I'd wait a few days, but if you still feel for her then the next time you see her I'd try to talk to her and get her number. Do not tell her about the dream for a while until you guys are dating for a good amount of time.

This thread is almost turning into dating advice! Haha.

LOL haven't noticed before... Yeah maybe you just need to breathe every now and then.

Another possibility could be that it wasn't actually 'her', as in the same person. Maybe she is just someone with the same hair color and you immediately connected her to the dream, because you would like it to be 'her' or you would want her to exist in real life. Just a thought, of course only you can tell...

Agreed with the others, with regards to you seeing this girl before, and your subconscious mashing up a storyline for a dream

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Did you know you only dream about people that you've seen? So I think you've seen her around and when going to sleep, it just so happened to be, the girl you dreamt about, you saw again that day

I'm pretty sure that's not true. In this case, he had already seen the girl, but I'm quite sure that the mind is perfectly capable of imagining new people.
