      I need help with dreams...

Ok so I've been meaning to post this for awhile now and I'm having issues remembering my dreams when I go to bed. I know the best way to remember your dreams is to keep a dream journal, but how can you have one if you can't remember your dreams? I really need help with this...any suggestions would be great!

Also I am alittle afaird to keep a dream journal...I just don't want people sneaking in my room and looking through my stuff and see that and start reading it and think I'm crazy. Sometimes my mom cleans my room and she might see that. She has been asking me if I am depressed lately and I keep telling her no...I just don't want her to get any bad ideas from weird dreams I might write down. Any suggestions on keeping a DJ or not? I might start one when I can remember another dream...

Anyone that would read your private journal isn't worth speaking to. Thus, it isn't likely that people close to you, like your parents, would intrude upon your privacy.

As for recall - yes, it's common advice to keep a dream journal but that's not active, it's a passive form of supporting dream recall simply because you output details of recalled dreams in written form.

To recall dreams each morning, or whenever you wake up, it's good to train yourself to stay calm, still and with eyes closed when realising that you have or are gradually waking up. While remaining as still and calm as possible, look through your thoughts and focus on them, elaborate and think back.

In short, put effort into recalling each and every time you wake up from sleeping by staying still, calm and focused on the thoughts and memories in your mind.

Try saying aloud affirmations before you go to bed such as "I will remember my dreams." and see if that helps. You'd be surprised. Concentrate on waking up and remembering to try and remember those dreams, and when you wake up for real, give yourself a minute to try and recall them.

I only remember my dreams if they're worth remembering. I'll wake up and be like, "damn i had a sweet dream last night."

Then i would write it online (don't do it anymore for certain reasons) A lot of my friends used to read them online and thought they were either cool or ridiculously funny

If you really want to remember your dreams and don't mind sacrificing a little sleep, you could set your alarm a few hours earlier that you normally get up. Chances are you'll remember some. Then take the time to record them and go back to sleep.

If you don't remember any of your dreams, a good thing to do is write down how you feel. Writing anything may help you remember or help you remember later in the day.

If you're reallly heart-up for dream recall, you could set your alarm clock to go off at 90 minute intervals (the length of an average sleep cycle, so right after a dream). However, in many cases this solution is impractical. You could also reaffirm yourself as you fall asleep to remember your dreams. It works.

Regarding someone finding your dream journal: Keep a disclaimer inside, telling them what the journal is, and what lucid dreaming is about. I'm sure they'll understand.

If someone discovering it and reading it really is an issue, you could also keep the journal under your pillow at night for easy access in the morning, then slip it under the mattress during the day.

I really agree with this. because one, you might remember a dream better by waking up earlier and without an agenda (like getting up to get ready after hearing your alarm) and going back to bed again will help you having more dreams. I find when I sleep in i get lots of dreams too.

The problem with not recalling your dream is that you may have actually had a lucid dream and simply don't remember it!
