Am I just lazy or does anyone else do this

I try to journal every time I have a vivid dream, which is pretty often, but for some reason if I couldn't make sense of the dream, no matter how vivid, I just can't bring myself to write anything down. Once I tried just writing down key terms or objects from the dream, and it worked, but even that was difficult. It's like some weird sort of writers block just wont let me write nonsensical dreams down.

So does anyone else experience this or is it just some sort of deeply set laziness. If anyone else has/had this is there a trick around it or am I just screwed unless the dream makes sense? If you answer me, no matter what my sig says, I'll promise not to kick you in the balls.

      You're lazy. Just like me.

If I can't recall a dream vividly, and can only remember little fragments, I am not motivated to record it.

But recording only keywords, particularly names, dreamsigns etc, is still better than recording nothing.

I record everything, but the problem I have is what to record when I remember practically nothing. There may be one or two words or scattered images that I recall that just can't practically be recorded down as words.

      But I try anyway.

I think it is all part of mastering dream recall. To begin with we have this difficulty, but the more we work at it, the easier it becomes to recall dreams, and recall a complete dream out of these dream fragments that we get.

Sometimes I get that. I have a dream, but just too lazy to write it down (prob because it's 3 or 5 in the morning, lol). I just have to force myself to do it because I'm so used to just going back to sleep. Just something to learn

Even if you can only remember some parts, write down as much as you can, doodle a pic if possible. I have drawings in my DJ. Every page has a drawing or 2 of what I think is important

I've seen a few people with sigs that have been here months but have less dreams recalled than I do(after 3wks). Is your dream recall that bad? Do you just not write things down? I'm just curious because I have an average of 3 per night (ranges from 2-4)

I do this and its a huge problem because i get lucid all the time when i can recall 2+ dreams a night, Semi-Naturalistic. But i am pretty sure its kind of a Semi-OCD thing to not feel like writeing a dream down if not "complete" kind of lke how we cant be happy unless everything is straight

I think I'll use that in my sig you homophobe

@armistice: My dream recall used to be pretty good during the summer, and due to the fact I'm woken by someone else each morning in the school year, my recall always goes to crap. I'm currently just trying to build up from that crap. so one fragmented dream is right about where I am currently, although I've had it where 3 fully vivid was normal.

But I think that OCD description was right on the head. I have natural OCD just from being a INTP personality. That could very well be what makes it so difficult.

Well I'm also going to try drinking more apple juice before bed as a dream aid and maybe that will help. Thanks for all the help guys!

If I don't write down my dream RIGHT AWAY after I wake up I get confused and forget a lot of parts, and things start going out of order. Sometimes I even MAKE UP parts of the dream that I'm "pretty sure" were there but I'm not positive ha ha.

So my dreams end up looking pretty weird and all out of order. But the important part isn't remember the order, it's getting all the dream signs.

      Cheers.

Yea, I actually did that a lot at the start, and it seemed to help really. I would use a lot of very vivid tid-bits and weave them into a story. I don't think theres anything wrong with that though since the dream sign really doesn't much have to do with the story. Maybe I'll try that again tonight.
