      Ok, anyone else experience this?

So, ive just started trying to improve my dream recall after giving up months ago. For the past three nights, ive been setting my alarm to go off about 4 and half hours into my sleep in hopes of waking up during a REM period. Strangely, my alarm clock never went off on all three nights. I had no idea why it wasnt working, so last night i placed my alarm clock in my drawer to see if it would go off. When i awoke the next morning, i found my drawer open with the alarm upside down next to my bed with the alarm switch off. It seems im turning my alarm clock off in my sleep without any knowledge of doing so .. am i sleepwalking or something?

haha no, I've never had something like that happen to me before, but perhaps that's because I always had to use my watch alarm (my alarm clock is WAY too loud to use...it literally wakes the whole house up). My watch is great for the job, because it's strapped to my arm, so I'd have a hard time putting it somewhere else in my sleep, and I have to press two buttons at once to disable the alarm (surprisingly difficult when asleep or drowsy). If I just press one button, it will go into snooze and then beep again five minutes later. Sometimes it will take several snoozes before I'm fully awake, but it's never failed me!

A ton of digital watches function like this...if you don't have one already, you might want to buy one. Walmart sells them for like $5.

Another thing is that for working on dream recall, I'd highly recommend Naiya's guide. It helped me go from 0-1 dreams recalled a night to 3+ a night.

Actually, this has happened to be a couple times before. I'd set my alarm to wake me up in a REM period, and I would wake up in the morning to find that my alarm was switched on Off.

Your probably not sleepwalking, just quickly turning off your alarm and not quite remembering it.

I've heard several cases of sleepwalkers doing this...

I've never done anything like it though.

haha that happens to me all the time... I used to think that my alarm clock only worked once in a while, but I realised that I have been turning it off without noticing. You're probably a deep sleeper like me. To me that is the result of getting used to an alarm, so intead of waking me up it simply triggers me to go turn it off in my sleep. You need a louder alarm, the kind that will give you a mini heart attack when it goes off hahahaha.

Nope, I'm beginning to think I'm very conscious and remember things very well, because I've had decent dream recall as of late, and I seem to have pretty good control over my mind and body in the awake state and in the lucid state. I've never turned off my alarm without knowing it, so it's possible that you're doing things in your sleep you don't know about.

I'm not on DV much these days, but I'll try to toss a cool dream or two into my DJ.

This would be the exact reason I'd show up late for class. My alarm clock continues to turn itself off randomly :p

The same thing has been happening to me too! I thought I was going crazy or something. The weird thing is It's only happened since I've been trying to LD.

in addition to your regular alarm, you could set another alarm on something else to go off a couple of minutes later. that way you'll have to get up again and remember wtf was going on.

Yea, you're just too tired, you don't remember turning it off. It's happened to me before, and as a result, I've been late for work in the past. Now I set 2 or 3 alarms on my cellphone.

Haha, I always do that. It gets fun when you set multiple alarms up around your room! I used to set 3 and they were all off when i wake up and with no reason, its quite funny actually.

I've noticed myself do this too, I found changing the alarm tune (I use my mobile) helped.

Haha this is kinda funny to read, apparently I've done this too, (sometimes the alarm on my mobile phone just doesn't go off) although it seems kinda hard to turn it off while asleep because it's a touch phone .. :S

Yes, when I got a new clock I put it right next to my bed and apparently this was too close. I never remembered turning it off, even vaguely, and it was always off in the morning. I had to move it across the room. That took care of the problem.

You could try setting the alarm in a plastic bag inside a bucket of ice water so you would have to touch the water to get to it.

Or have a family member hide it somewhere.
You could also put the alarm clock in a locked box so you'd have to find the key, etc... need I go on?

I did this TONS of times. I think at least a month straight at one point. What it comes down to is the alarm rings, you put it off and go about your sleep and since you woke up and was back in bed pretty fast, you don't remember it. In my case, I have to walk across my room to put the alarm off, so, it makes for a more interesting experience
