It still looks like it's sitting at a desk.

These are my beauties: a new (or at least, superbly unknown and under developed) strain of swordtail. Although these guys are a year old, the males still haven't reached sexual maturity. Fortunately, this is a common trait to all black-bodied swordtails (and platys, and mollies...), so I needn't fret. A few are FINALLY starting to grow their swords! As a comparison, their half-brother pineapple strain grew their swords at five months!

I have no names for these guys, though I've already begun to name their spawn (the females are mature enough to breed with their pineapple sword half-brothers). My goal is to bring out the yellow irridesence of the scales, while maintaining the black base (and, obviously, getting color into the fins!).


Not the alpha male, but I like him anyway.


She's as big as the alpha, and pretty to boot! She raked in 30 fry on her second birthing (maybe more, but she probably ate them). Not too shabby!


6 of 8 of the fish that I thought were good looking enough to breed (as opposed to sell).

The alpha male is being camera shy today (he's the blurry bugger in back, with the sagging dorsal fin and a bit of sword starting to poke out). My whopper pleco is hiding, too. Pity... I'll post a picture of the big female's fry later (after I clean the 10 gallon's algae off the sides).

Omg I looooooooove fish!! I used to breed those types all the time until I entrusted them to some relatives while away and they all DIED.

Shark Rider, Tommy is sooo cute! I love the "sink" pictures and he looks like someone twisted and broke his body in the third laying down picture. He really looks like he wants to kick your ass in the scarf pictures!

Yeah he does wants to kick my ass. Actually my sister's. Cuz she always has those weird ideas... And this cat, that ways it sleeps...I've never seen a cat sleeping like that before. That's 180 degrees. Twisted cat.
