      NES ownership and age

      Two questions:
      Do you have an NES?
if yes, how old are you about?

I have this wondering if most people who currently own an NES have it for the nostalgia feeling because it was our first console (meaning mid twenties + ) or if you just have it because it's cool. Raspberry and I were talking about my extra gaming experience and I realized that my first gaming experience was nothing like hers.

If the are of the older crowd, tell a story about your old NES. And is it the same machine you have now?

I had a neighbour that my brother and I did everything with and my parents hired his older sister to babysit us after school. He owned an NES with a lot of console. at the memories of blowing in the cartridges. I remember he had Contra 1, 2, Super Mario Bros 1, 2, 3, and my all time favourite Snake Rattle n Roll. We beat all of them except the last one, which I still haven't beaten, even with cheat codes on I own all of those cartridges too. I have a game genie now, which I got just for snake rattle n roll, but when I was a kid we went at it au naturale

I'm twenty and still have my NES. I used to play it all the time with my neighbor when I was little. We played the Mario games and Zelda a lot. Good times! It's prone to freezing now though, and I haven't touched it in a longgg time.

Super Nintendo was the shit, I played the FUCK out of that with my brother.

Nintendo has the best consoles, and games. I don't even want to know how many hours me and my friends spent playing N64 blazed as fuuuuuuuu.

I'm 36 and I currently have an NES. I got the NES for Christmas in 1985. It came with Contra 1, Mike Tyson's Punch Out, Super Mario / Duck Hunt, and some car-racing game. My brother and I fought over who got to play, so I ultimately got a Commodore 64 computer to play games on while my brother played NES. Once we both lost interest in it a couple years later, it hit one of our many yard sales.

Recently (3 years ago), a friend of mine was cleaning out his attic and happened upon his old NES, a spare, and a huge box of games. I carefully cleaned all of the cartridges, replaced the connector, and played my fingers off for a few months. Those old games are really difficult to play compared to the new ones. They require a perfect rhythm of button presses to make it though. These newer games seem really loose and sloppy compared to some of the older ones.

In my earliest days, I started on an Atari 2600 with Combat, Pong, Breakout, Pacman, and many others. They were quite fun in their day, and I wouldn't mind collecting a 2600 again.

I have an NES at home, but don't play it too much.

I grew up with nintendo; parents hated violent games, shooters, etc.

My dad even went so far as to ban me from playing boxing on wii sports, at age 16. My mom is okay with it, though. weird.

      18 now.

Sometimes I wonder if anyone has really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like.

I never had any gaming consoles growing up. Just a pc. That said I played nes all the time at friends' houses and such. I obtained a nes when I was about 16 have kept it since. Got my first nes emulator when I was about 11 or 12 and played a ton of nes games on my computer. Namely the contras, mario 1+3, super mario world, zelda 1, 2, and link to the past. The good stuff.

      Are you shitting me?

      Anyway,
I'm only 18 but my NES was my first console. Got it from my older cousin along with the SMB/duck hunt, Metroid, and Punchout, and eventually got others as well (SMB2 and LoZ FTW).

Sadly, it doesn't work currently (I would guess it's the 72-pin connector). So no more NES unless I fix it or buy a new one.

      EDIT:

Correction, THIS was my first game system

Man, I must be one of the only 18-year-olds around to have had both of these.

      Ever play the game Ninja?

Don't think so, but the memories are a bit fuzzy. I remember having a ton of the popular arcade games; Donkey Kong, Pacman, Frogger, Centipede, Pong, etc.etc. Once I figured out how to use the modem, I downloaded countless games for it.

I miss my NES, I gave it to my little cousin a long, long time ago but I still like to play those old games on the web from time to time. Duck Hunt, Super Mario Bros (1 and 3), Excite Bike, TMNT (1 and 2), Contra, Double Dragon, etc... Those were the days. :']

I'm 30. I had an NES until about maybe 7-8 years ago. I love NES games, but I just play on emulator these days. The nes I had wasn't plugged in at that point anymore (unlike when I was a kiddo haha). I gave it away to a friend of mine in the name of an engineering project he was doing.

My first system was an Atari 2600. It was towards their downfall, so the system only cost my parents like 50 bucks. In 1985 I stepped my game up and got a NES. I can't remember exactly what I owned because I'd trade games with my cousin next door, and people at school all the time, and I'd rent games all the time too. However, I do remember at the very least I had Jackal, Ice Hockey, Double Dribble, Bad Dudes, and Bayou Billy....and some space shooter....it was a single player.

Some time after I got my SNES, I got rid of my NES....because my sister broke it on accident I think. She got out of the top bunk and landed on it. Anways, this year I bought a NES again at a garage sell. I currently have Castlevania II, Rad Racer, Contra, Metal Gear, and Mega Man 2. Eventually I'll get all the Marios.

I mainly got it for those Father/Daughter Moments, and just to have some closure with some of those games that seemed impossible at the time.

I never actually owned a NES, but my grandma did (God knows why she did, but she did!) and I always used to play it when I went over. Just the cleassics, like Mario Bros, Marble Madness (my favorite), tetris, etc.

I think this just about sums it up. I have an aunt with no kids that also owned a nes, simply so my brother and I had something to do when we went over there.

I can't believe I've never thought of that.

I never owned an NES, did have a Commodore64 though. Sold it to a friend recently. I grew up with PCs mostly.

Most of my friends have an NES though, because they grew up with it.
