Sure, we can do that, but time difference might be a problem. Do you live in Melbourne in Australia or Florida?

I was about to buy it then found out you need two games: ARMA II and ARMA II: Operation Arrowhead. Each costs $20, and I'm not paying $40 for something I might not even like. I wish it were less expensive but I'm just not sure enough that I'd like it for it to be worth the risk.

Well, took me a good half an hour at least to get into a game, but once I did, I had some good fun looking around. Killed 3 zombies, found a watch. Still kinda confused by the inventory system. Also having trouble finding buildings with enter-able interiors, though I did pass through a small village.

EDIT: Well, this would be really fun if it weren't almost impossible to get into a game. Seriously, am I doing something wrong here? Most of the servers I try either get to the "Receiving data" bar (or whatever it says), which freezes around 70-90%, or pass that then hang on "waiting for server response". Is it me, or is it just the servers?

haha, yeah Melbourne, Australia.
But people from everywhere seem to be on at the same time anyway. Sometimes anyway.

Good servers that are typically full are usually really good but getting into them can take a while. Once you're in though, you're good.

I don't recommend getting on unpopulated servers as they usually have issues with lag etc. and that's why no one is there.

You guys need to get on DV IRC and /join #DayZ

Irken and I have a group of four met up north of Polana, but we can always use more guns and eyes.

Cheaper way to get this mod.
Basically install Arma2:Free and then get Arrowhead for $20.
You can get the Free version of Arma2 on Steam.

However, it's only $10 less and at some point they may update DayZ with something which inadvertently stops the free Arma2 from working with it.

Hmm. Good point.

Finally got the same but cannot find a single server which isn't full or laggy or not updated. I finally also got guns and everything while playing in some really shit servers that aren't even updated.
But then got killed. So back to square one.

ArmA 2 DayZ Chernarus map

Go for the Tree Stand/ Military Outposts in the woods.

They spawn military loot.

Stay away from the coast. Stay away from big cities.

Go into general stores to get skins, maps, compasses, watches, food, etc.

Someone else told me to look at the map too, but IMO it's basically cheating. I mean, I suppose it's fair enough in the early stages since you've got bugs fucking it up so it's alright to get an advantage, but I'd rather wait to find a map in the game, personally.

Even though I'm really pissed right now lol They came through walls and killed me.

Good other info though. I didn't see any military outposts in the woods though. I was walking for 2 HOURS yesterday lol!

Navigating with the map is difficult enough at first. Running around randomly just wastes time, imo.

I easily spent 3-4 hours totally lost the first time I played. The in-game map sucks anyway and you have to pause yourself to use it.

This map is much better. Once you've oriented yourself, head to Green Mountain. There are tons of Deer Blinds there. You can get an AK or M4/M16 easily, with a few mags.

Also, you need to get in IRC so you can get our mumble & vent server info and catch up with us. Irken and I and a few other people have formed a party. We're pretty much kicking ass all over the place. And we're mostly geared up.

Once we get a marksman unit we'll be set for the foreseeable future.

Also, ghillie suits are fucking badass.

heh, just found a map in game. I have a broken leg though and am just chilling in a house. I went back in to the game by accident and I was going unconscious for some unknown reason. Stupid thing. Had heaps of bullets too.

Also I seem to always have either bullets or a gun, but never both.

He chased me for a bit, but he let me go.
I ran for a km's before I stopped and got my bearings.

I then proceeded to the closest little town. I was looking around, flanking the zombies and saw a barn, grabbed a shotgun YES!

I went in to another building with the two rooms on each side of the hallway, walked in the right and there's a guy crouching right there, presumably filling his backpack with the various loot on the ground.
No fucking way am I letting him kill me after this. *BANG BANG*! He topples over and my heart is pounding and I'm fucking shaking haha
Holy shit that was intense. I grab a few things, including his crossbow. I realise there may be a friend near, so I check but it's all clear and I go back and grab everything else and run.

I'm low on blood, but I've exited the game after eating and drinking so I should be okay until I can get back in and cook a fire to eat the meat I got.

LOVE. THIS. GAME.

Yeah, that story pretty much did it for me. Are any other DV people playing? I'd like to be on my own for a bit at first to get used to it, but teaming up eventually would be nice.
