Thread: Cobb's Totem

Okay, so recently I've been thinking of trying a totem, like in Inception (because honestly, I a better way to remember RCing).

I noticed that a lot of people are calling the spinning top Cobb's totem. A while back I actually saw a post that underlined the fact it was not, but in fact his wife, Mal's. The post claimed Cobb's real totem was his wedding ring and it makes perfect sense, as it flits in and out depending on whether he's dreaming.

Just leaving this for all to see and possibly discuss

I agree that the top is not his totem, as in the movie he explains that only the owner of the totem can use it correctly, however I also think that the wedding ring wasn't. Maybe Cobb has no totem, what if his totem is Mal, as obviously she only appears in his dreams. So yeah I don't think the top is his totem.

Wait. When Inception is an old movie, what is for example Star Wars then?


I never thought the spinning top was not his totem, but if that's the case I like the theory that Mal is is totem. But then again it's not really save. Maybe you don't see Mal because she is in another room or whatever, so you can't be sure if it's a dream or not.

The top isn't his totem, and the movie is clear of that. He uses it as a reminder, but everyone knows how it works, so it has no power. His wedding ring is his totem. Look up pictures of this.
