Thread: CloverField

I can't wait to see this, now. I'm planning to see it and Rambo back to back next Sunday, which should be an experience.

My friend roped me in to seeing it with him next Tuesday. I'm not exactly looking forward to it, but, eh.

Well, I saw about half an hour of the movie before the chit-chatting assholes behind us, idiots to the right of us asking us to move over for their friend who ended up talking on his cell as soon as he sat down and the insanely blazing hot theater, forced us to get up in a huff and walk out.

At least we got our $20 back.

Going to give it another try tonight I think. DIFFERENT THEATER.

Just as the monster started making all these cool noises too.

I want to see this film, and im also a big Lost fan. But the film is not out where i live jut yet. I will be seing it in Feb with the girlfriend.

Im too scared to read the last few pages incase i pick up a spoiler, so could someone just let me know the general oppinion on the movie?

For those who has inquired regarding the end credits.

At the very end credits it's pretty clear that Rob is still alive. There is a small brief audio transmission played backwards through the camcorder, he says "Its Still Alive." Also take special note at the end there are two events that are key componets to focuse on.

1. The event at the end with Rob and Beth at Coney Island shows something fall from the sky and splash into the water in the background, given evidence that this creature is definately Alien and not of this world.

2. Take note that the Monster that Hud (guy with the camera) sees is not the same Monster that was in the city reeking havoc. The Evidence clearly show that once they've removed themselves from the downed helicopter you get a glimspe of Manhatten pretty much destroyed. When Hud pan's the Camera toward the City you get a shot of a group of Fighter Jets flying over toward Manhatten and firing Missles at the Monster which is still Alive. Afterwards Hud pans the camera upward and the second Monster is standing right over him. This Monster is distinctly different from the one that was show previously and Not as big as the first one but still pretty Huge in size.


This is the First Alien Hud captured through most of the movie.


This is the Second Alien at the End that Hud Recorded. This is also the Alien that was Bombed at the end by the B-2 bombers while Rob and his party we're in the Helicopter.

I really didnt think the first monster looked like that, I thought it looked about the same as the second just bigger, but if those images are official I can cant argue with that!

The first Monster Hud captures a glimpse of it moving behind the building right after the statue of liberty's head is launched at them. You also see the First one a lot clearer when they were rescuing Beth and they were in her High Rise Building the Alien that was approaching them was the Alien from that first Picture. after that you see bits and pieces of them of course but it's definately not the same Alien as the one from the last scene of the Movie. Also another clue regarding two Aliens is that www.Hasbrotoys.com is doing pre-orders of the Cloverfield Monster with two Inter-changable heads.

Ne-yo: If those are official, please provide links to them, especially to the one that had the invitation to the party, so I can check them out.

From my understanding, the monster pics were just concept art.

The only thing that makes me even entertain the fact that there were two monsters was that the jets and the bombing, during the scene where Hud got mauled, were in a completely different direction than what was going on. If there is anything that suggests that there were two monsters, that's really the only thing I saw. Many people seem to say that the monster that "ate" Hud was smaller than the other, though. That may be true, too, I suppose.

However, there's still a lot of speculation on what it was that splashed down into the ocean, at the final scene. The producer said that the creature has been in the ocean for [url=http://filmdrunk.com/post.phtml?pk=921]thousands of years[/quote], and most of the people that are following the viral marketing say that it was a satellite belonging to the company that Rob was going to work for (Tagruato) that fell out of the sky and supposedly crashed down into the Atlantic. It's said that their search for the satellite is what woke up the monster in the ocean.

There are still a lot of mysteries about the movie (because, I've believed from the beginning that this isn't going to be the only installment, because J.J. Abrams is trying to create a monster icon, and you don't just do that in one movie) so if the information you're sharing is official, please give me some links to where you got it.

Cool, I just read through all of this thread spoilers and all. I just saw the movie today. I really liked it. Though I can understand why some people would not like it.

I hope they do make another one that would be cool. I can't get enough of watching monster destroying cities.

Though the shaky camera was hard watch sometimes. you do get used to it after a while. The worst was when they were running with the camera.
That sucked, had to look away for a second.

That home video camera records some really good sound effects.

Despite what everyone has said about the camera work being well done; if you are the least bit prone to motion sickness, you will have a hard time watching this movie. If you are very susceptible to motion sickness, this movie will be unwatchable for you. I saw this movie with someone who was forced to cover their eyes through the majority of the movie because of this. The camera is extremely shaky (much much worse than blair witch) and not only when the characters are running/moving, but throughout the entire thing.

If you think you can stomach it though, almost everything else about the movie is worth it

Someone explain to me how the characters could be so stupid as to never take a weapon with them? He had a crowbar, but was only concerned with using it to pry open the vending machine...

well, I think it was dumb they didnt take guns but the crow bar I could understand being so freaked out as to drop it..plus people are always stupid in monster movies, otherwise the monster would be no problem

Regarding Xaqaria's question in his spoiler. I was wondering the same thing. And I think if it would have been real, like they wanted to make it feel. They would have been a lot more freaked out than they were. Oh well I let it go, that's just the movies for you. There is always something like that.

Saw it tonight, I thought it was incredible. The whole first person shakycam thing makes it a lot more real, and it really helps you imagine like you're right there going through the whole thing. I have one question though, one part really caught me off guard.

What the hell happened to Marlena (or whatever her name was)? I know she was bitten and then when they took her into the back, did they shoot her or did her head explode? I was shocked after that part.
