      omg ramen

so, as a 3 year veteran of college thus far I have come to looove ramen. It is quite simply amazing. and while I still love the taste, I get kind of bored of just regular noodles. soooo, Post your fave ramen recipes here!!!!!

      one I love right now.

      block or two of ramen
      can of cream of shrimp
half can of milk (can cream of shrimp was in)
      cocktail shrimp

as you might guess it is a simple matter of boiling the noodles, and pouring out the water...heating the cream of shrimp and milk in another pot, and then pouring it over the noodles in the other pot. then throw in as much shrimp as you like and let it simmer and mix. Its grrrreat!

      Here's my favorite:

You buy these blocks called uruka ramen or something like that. You open up the package, and pour it in a pot of boiling water. Then you add the provided seasoning to taste. You should try it sometime.

Canned goods also have a lot of sodium. The noodles alone also have plenty of the stuff to preserve it.

Still tastes good. Wish there were authentic ramen shops around though, would make for a much more wholesome meal than ramen bags.

I don't understand this ramen thing.

That is, I don't get why people like it so much. Yeah it's something you can eat if you don't have money / don't want to spend time cooking, but... The same can be said for a lot of diff food.

People in South Korea are really shocked when I tell them that people eat ramen in other countries as well. *face palm* People here go to restaurants and order ramen because it's such a comfort food or whatever.

      UGH I cannot handle this.

Me too. I could live off the stuff.
My friend showed me a cool way to make it.
Put a slice of cheese or in the bottom of a bowl.
Boil the ramen, but when you strain the noodles, save some of the hot water and pour it over the cheese.
Add noodles, add flavoring, then add a few spices.
We added garlic powder, seasoning salt, and meat tenderizer. lol.
      it was good.

I'm fortunate enough not to have ramen as a staple--mom's a former home ec. teacher and an excellent cook. The closest we get to ramen is beef and noodles.

I put 1 cup of water in it, and throw in some extra chicken bouillon and chicken salt, and any other spices that smell good. And with the packet of seasoning, too.

I've got a love-hate thing going with ramen...Top Ramen, in particular. It's like I crave it one day and then I'm sick to death of it the next. And I'm also very particular about it: To start with, I'll only eat the "oriental" flavor (the pork and shrimp ones make me wanna puke); once cooked, I have to eat it fast while the noodles are still firm, or they'll get all flaccid and slimy, which I hate; I won't eat it unless the broth-to-noodle ratio is greatly in favor of the broth; I have a compulsive need to dump an ass load of black pepper into the soup...followed by a whole packet of crushed red peppers (the kind you can get at Round Table for free).

Anything that falls short of all my aforementioned preferences brings out the "hate" part of my relationship with ramen and at times can cause me to dump the whole damn bowl into the garbage disposal. Yeah. It's gotta be pretty perfect for me to love it.
