It had a few interesting scenes, but most of the movie was just teenagers arguing like idiots in the way they do on MTV's The Real World. The trailer for Paranormal Activity makes the movie look like the typical "I think there's something in the room. Woes, the door just closed by itself. Oh no, what is that?!!! (gets thrown across the room) We're fucked!" It's been done a million times before.
It's supposedly rated R for Language. Nothing else. And other people claim it's pure suspense. It appears as though they're going for an old school Hitchcock feel. Seeing as how it was an indie film to start, it can either be really good... or really bad.

Just finished watching this and I kinda enjoyed it. Not because it was all that scary, but because it was different from all the worthless "horror" movies that's been pumping out these last few years. This movie had a nice eerie and suspenseful atmosphere throughout. Although you should probably see it in the theater, because the scare factor in this movie was kinda lost on my 42" TV I think. This movie needs a big screen and loud speakers

I just watched the film... and holy shit.

There is only one actual scary bit. But the ending was so...just so...wow.

It was actually a good film, good story line and all. But it was NOT a dead scary film at all. It wasn't as exiting as I hoped it would be.

I can't believe they thought it was scary enough to petition. It really wasn't scary.

So, the "horror" part is a "And then a skeleton popped out!" kind of horror? What a disappointment.

I'm not even sure what to think of this movie. Lots of mixed reactions.

No, there were actually no bits to be scared of except one bit. It's not like a big screen and speakers could make a couple sitting around scary.

No way, watching a horror film by myself or with just a few other people inside my 4,500 Square foot house at night is makes the movie MUUCH scarier than going to a theater and being surrounded by 500 other people.

i have not seen it yet i kinda plan on seeing it but my 20 year old sister saw it and she said she has seen too much x-files for that too affect her and judging by the trailer it doesnt seem that scary i predict it will probably have some things jump out or moments like that where i cant help but jump or go ahh for a sec,but isnt that startling not scaring so its a startle movie
i also(judged on the trailer) made a parody of it and some other horror films(the paranormal activity one is in the middle)

It's so weird how everytime i watch a paranormal movie it's ALWAYS dark. I never think about watching it in the morning, i always get an urge to watch it in the dark.....seems to be some type of subconscious thought. Same with other horror movies. I can watch action in daylight, just never horror.

BTW the footsteps you hear from the ghost is the same footsteps i heard in my story i said not too long ago about my dad taking my dog for a walk and heard footsteps coming towards me. Obviously it was the house creeking, but it was creepy as hell.

I've see the movie, and it is not the "scariest movie of all time" they are just marketing, and they're doing it pretty well too.

Just saw it. I saw it with a bunch of screaming girls, so I'm not sure if it was scary or not.

I liked it, in any case.

I enjoyed it, but I found Blair Witch Project more scary. I suggest watching it, if you're in for a little bit of horror, but this is probably not the most scary film ever.

The night I watched this movie, I left the theatre shaking. But then, I get scared really easily.

      MAJOR SPOILER ALERT

I have been a fan of horror my entire life.
I broke away from ghost stories for personal reasons... but because of all the hype and a lack of other options, my 17 year old son, 13 year old daughter and I gave in and watched this movie tonight.

My gracious I predicted the movie from the start. My daughter was breathing quickly and kept jumping, so I warned her in advance when something "scary" was about to happen. I knew in the beginning that the girl would kill her boyfriend. The first time the girl became "dazed" I made stabbing gestures to my daughter.
When the girl went downstairs at the end I warned my daughter that the show would end with a "jump at you" scene and we'd catch a glimpse of the demon.

I was fighting such fierce laughter throughout most of the movie I had tears streaming down my face. I just don't normally laugh that hard- ever.
Though, in my opinion, this movie failed EPICALLY as a horror movie, it was THE best comedy I've seen in a very long time.

Thankfully, we were the only ones in the front half of the theater. But there was a lot of laughter but the back half.

I'll be blunt. I'm a WIMP when it comes to horror movies. But this...I was only kinda scarred at one scene.
      Spoiler for Scene:

Other than that...the movie was minutes of build up to one second of "BOO" every now and again. I enjoyed the story, but really, that was not scary.

I thought it was a fairly average movie, good for something to watch if your bored but definitely not worth paying for at the movies. It was very slow going and the ending was the only scary bit.

      Spoiler for spoiler:
