Thread: Is the billionth view the end?

Hey guys ,
I thought I would get a good discussion going, but before I do I cannot stress enough that the following thing i'm about to tell you I don't believe even the slightest bit of.
Ok so if you haven't heard of PSY's Gangnam Style you must of been in outer space or something, seriously there's no way to escape the sensation. And also you might know that the youtube video is going to be getting it's 1 billionth view very shortly and it's set off some sparks online especially with the supposedly 'end of the world' (which I think is bullshit). Anyway it all revolves around a guy called nostradamus and he was born in 1503 and has apparently predicted lots of major events like 9/11, death of Henry II, the French Revolution, defeat of Hitler etc... and well he has this quote that i'm going to tell you and why this is surprisingly scary.

Ok at first this probably doesn't make much sense to you so i'm going to do my best to explain it to you. The first part of the quote "from the calming morning" is meant to be a reference to South Korea which is the 'calming morning' country and guess where PSY is from? South Korea. So moving on to the next part of the quote "when of the dancing horse" is meant to be a reference to how PSY dances like a horse in the video on youtube and is sort of world famous now. Lastly, and probably the most scary part is "the number of circles will be 9" ok so a circle is meant to be a zero according to the theory and there are nine 0's in a billion. To top this all off PSY's world famous Gangnam Style is meant to reach a billion views on the 21st of December 2012 yeah now thats sort of hard to believe. If you ask me this quote was made up by people alive in the 21st century because there is no physical evidence that this is actually been written down. And even if this was true it does not say the end of the world it says the end so this could be really anything. Again I do not believe in this I mainly posted this to start a good old fashion debate

When Gangnam Style hits 1 billion views, an as-yet-unknown software bug on the Youtube servers will be expressed, causing all Youtube to crash. Hordes of angsty teens that rely on Youtube like a coma patient relies on his iron lung will be released unto the Earth, and everything will be destroyed in a giant fireball of tears and cum.

IMO there are many different ways to interpret quotes and this sounds like a coincidence.

This made me laugh a bit xD. All of this end of the world stuff is ridiculous IMO. No need to worry about any of the rumors...

Not only there are different possible interpretations, there are also different possible translations. And until I see the original parchment paper with this quatrain written on it by hand of Nostradamus himself, I just think it's a hoax. The whole quatrain is made up. *she goes to stock up on beer and canned beans, just in case*

Indeed, I saw a documentary once that debunked the whole "King of Terror" quatrain that was making the rounds after 9/11. It turns out it was a mistranslation based on a missing hyphen in one copy of the document. I forget what the real translation was, but it was something totally unrelated and not ominous at all.

I know you saw a picture on memebase about this. Chill out, the world isn't going to end. And if it does, who cares? It really isn't going to be a problem anymore because we are all dead.

The whole 9/11 translation was FAKE! I did some research on the internet and a college student spread it around like wildfire to prove how people will interpret anything into what they believe is true. Knowing this it makes me wonder about ALL of the interpretations he made that were 100% on the mark after he died...

I think it's fair to say we are all in the same boat, we all think this is bullshit.
Yeah I thought that would be the final result because this has so many other things it could mean and this is probably some collage student again. PSY actually heard about it and said that it's sort of funny and stupid at the same time

Also you say foreign but I bet there's lots of South Korean people on this forum that think it is just a normal song, like there version of Will.I.am or something

3) It's the beginning of the wave of "Youtubization" of East Asia. They've always have lots more people, but only recently have they become as wealthy and internet-connected as the West. Within 5 years I would wager that there will be at least a dozen billion hitters and most or all will be from Korea/Japan/China (even though China blocks youtube).

I agree, what is the big deal? I'm sort of annoyed that the first video to have a billion views won't be something better than gangnam style, oh well what can you do
