And in which journal was that paper published?

There are studies which find no statistical link, so why are you so 'certain' about this study over the others?

Okay, so I looked at it further. There is no mention of how the researchers chose their participants. Were they maybe prisoners or ex-prisoners, or just people likely to commit crime? (This would obviously, massively skew the results).
Someone else I asked said the same thing, they couldn't find how the subjects were chosen, so I don't think I just missed it.

Also found this page, but it looks sort of half-hearted and shoddy itself (as skeptic websites usually are), but it's got a bit of info in there at least Transcendental Meditation - The Skeptic's Dictionary - Skepdic.com

      Which participants?

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

You're assuming that. The paper doesn't specify. One of the requirements of a scientific study is detailing who the participants are. This study fails to do so.

      But it does say so...

This study presents the final results of a two-month prospective experiment to reduce violent crime in Washington, DC. On the basis of previous research it was hypothesized that the level of violent crime in the District of Columbia would drop significantly with the creation of a large group of participants in the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programs to increase coherence and reduce stress in the District.

This National Demonstration Project to Reduce Violent Crime and Improve Governmental Effectiveness brought approximately 4,000 participants in the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programs to the United States national capital from June 7 to July 30, 1993. A 27-member independent Project Review Board consisting of sociologists and criminologists from leading universities, representatives from the police department and government of the District of Columbia, and civic leaders approved in advance the research protocol for the project and monitored its progress.

You can feel what someone elses energy is..I've walked into rooms and felt the entire energy of the room drop...you don't need a scientific research paper to know this lol. And actually females are more sensitive to this energy than fellas

But you have to admit a scientific study is a pretty entertaining way to troll someone that doesn't buy into this shit.

That's just feeling your own nerves when you are consciously and subconsciously picking up on other people's body language.

I love it, you all ignore the evidence that has come out in favor of Majestic's premise and instead respond to him. You guys are hysterical.

The fuck are you talking about OP? Seriously, what is it that you are actually talking about? "I know it cus I felt it once you don't need to verify it lol" isn't a substantive assertion.

Lol. You ignore substantive assertions and fixate on weaker ones while never addressing the evidence. Instead you target arguments that don't include evidence and say "hrm hrm you have no evidence hrm hrm."

Except that I didn't ignore it, I concluded the study was shit. It didn't give a profile of the participants AT ALL.

"Oh, we gave the participants this drug and none of them got sickle-cell anaemia, this drug prevents it!"
      Meanwhile every participant was white.
See how that's kind of quintessential?

Right, you gave a criticism, I explained the criticism, and then you ignored my explanation and went ahead and attacked the next person to say something. Your criticism is so baseless you might as well have farted on the keyboard rather than typed out a response. Did you seriously think one possible explanation was that criminals from DC were participating in the study so there were less violent people on the streets?

The abstract very clearly states, in as much as you should expect an abstract to, where the participants came from. TM groups from all across the country were invited to participate. If you want to know the details of these groups down to individual names, you'll have to read more than the abstract.

Oh wait I'm being logical again, so I guess this is going to get ignored.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

Actually I skimmed over the whole study. Not just the abstract.
All it says is "TM practitioners took part...."

Right, and also this (which I am now quoting for you for the second time)

This National Demonstration Project to Reduce Violent Crime and Improve Governmental Effectiveness brought approximately 4,000 participants in the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programs to the United States national capital from June 7 to July 30, 1993.
