A Saudi woman had met with a man outside of a public mall to retrieve photos of her that were allegedly being used for blackmail. Upon this meeting, both the man and woman were abducted at knife-point and taken to another location where they were, subsequently, raped. The woman was raped by seven men, a total of (from my understanding) 14 times. After this incident, the woman was tried for violating Saudi laws that prohibit a woman from taking any meeting with any man outside the range of her family members or husband. She has received a sentence of 200 lashes with bamboo rods, as well as jail-time, for this infraction.
CNN's take on it.
FOX's take on it.
Does anybody want to try to take a guess as to why the Bush Administration is not publicly condemning this clear violation of human rights (which, of course, FOX tried to down-play)?
Anyone?
Come on...Take a stab at it.
