Just a question that came to me earlier today. Let's just pretend I was the richest man in the world and a mad scientist. I have my own uncharted island as well, outside of any government.

Let's say I have a space shuttle-like rocket built (keep in mind I'm rich). Now of course government officials will recognize me as a threat to national security. What extent can other governments do to stop me? If they can stop me what would they do?

Covert operations happen. Some circumstances require government action and cover up outside the scope of public knowledge.

Edit: this is assuming you piss any government off. Considering you're a "mad scientist" something is bound to happen.

To extend the life of this thread-what if somehow the operation was secretly recorded and sent out across the internet? Of course they would deny any involvement, but imagine the media. What if I had acquired alien technologies being tested in those videos?

No you don't

Our societies want to think so. I'd like to think so, but in reality you have the natural right to do anything you want and so do others. Unless you have a religion and believe in something that gives these natural rights to you.

They can do whatever the fuck they want because it's illegal to own rockets and such, basically anywhere. So unless you actually have enough money to buy a private army and overthrow the government, you're fucked.

Theres no such thing as 'threat to national security' only such thing as 'more money for the national bank'. If attacking you won't bring up any money, nobody will care what you do.

The goverment is just people like you and me. People like you and me will only do anything when we are payed good money. We're not gonna do this or that because it's the right thing to do. We want money for it. So don't worry, as long as your island isn't located on an oilsource nothing will happen and nobody will care.

Yup, but neither would you. There's plenty of suffering going on in the world. There's plenty of people who need rescuing. You wouldn't move either unless you get paid. Hypocrit.
