Thread: Overfeminisation

Okay guys... I know I've been going overboard with all the gay stuff, but I thought this deserved a thread of it's own since it's become apparent that some people don't actually read to the end of a thread before replying.

Statistics show that there are more gay men than there are gay women.

Now, whilst I am over the moon that this means perhaps people are going to stop shitting out children all over the place... this leaves us with a social dilemma.

Because doesn't this mean that there are LESS men around for straight women?

We can't force gay men to get with women.
And we can't force straight women to get with women.

So... how do we get around this? There is a higher proportion of feminine people to masculine people. It will diminish the opportunity for partnerships for women, whilst some men will be lavisciously supping it up as they get more women to shag!

Am I just being paranoid? Because I could swear that this could cause some problems right?

In theory, yes. In practice, no.

It can be interpreted as beneficial if anything. Due to the fact that it will slow down population growth on an already overpopulated planet. Not to mention, how many people die single? I'd wager the number is quite high. Now for some, yes this could be do to the fact that they are unable to find a mate, but I would assume the number of those people not to be as high as you believe, simply because some people just enjoy being single.

Its not as if every man and woman on earth need to be partnered up, nor would that ever happen even if homosexuality didn't exist.

In theory, yes its a problem.

Well it's not really as if people are rioting in the streets because some die single (some by choice, some by force of circumstances).

Technically if all couples had 2 children total then it would eventually cause the extinction of everyone. But this doesn't happen, and in any case, there are way more infertile people than people who can't find partners.

Gay people are like 1% of the total population...Probably not even that.

Do you have a source and some numbers for the claim that gay men greatly outnumber lesbians? Anecdotally, having lived in or near gaytown in two different cities for eight years, I always encounter vastly more lesbians than gay men, and at least ten to one bi girls vs. bi guys. I can accept that there are actually more gay men, but I would question it being a significant margin.

Yes. You're being paranoid. There are far too many straight/bisexual people in the world for you to ever have to worry about it being a threat to the reproduction of mankind.

A problem? I like those odds! Not to mention guys are more likely to die than women, which leaves even more single women! With that kind of supply and demand I should be charging for it.

Where does it say that every human being needs a mate? Even if by some odd
turn of fate there were an equal amount of males to females, there would still
be plenty of single people, either due to lack of interest, other priorities, or
incompatibility.

But anyhoo, yeah, that's silly. And even in theory, it wouldn't diminish the population anyway. Just one male can impregnate a LOT of women.

Though there are more gay men than there are gay women, there are a lot of bisexual women. Most queer women identify as bisexual rather than gay, and ultimately queer women outnumber queer men. So no, I don't think there's a problem here.

Also, gay people are not 1% of the population as someone here said. Estimates have been given that we're somewhere between 2 and 10%. Definitely 10% if you count other queer peoples like bisexuals, transgendered people, etcetera.

Also, it's not like all 6 billion people on the planet are in a relationship at one time. People are constantly breaking up, being single, getting together, hooking up, getting married, divorcing...

Also, the more that women have to compete for men, the prettier girls get over time, because men end up selecting the hawtest. Personally I think that's a plus.

When I said 1-3%, I meant those identifying as being "openly gay." No doubt, there are a lot of people still in the closet or are else unsure of their sexuality.

I also like the competition aspect. (Yay! I can finally use this smiley!)

There's a bit of a joke that Cambridge is supposed to be full of gays... and actually now I'm here that seems to be pretty substantiated. In my college at least, I'd say maybe 20% of the guys identify as gay or bi. It's mental really... perhaps gay people are on average more intelligent or something.

Or perhaps it is that more intelligent people are more likely to be atheists and therefore more likely come to certain conclusions through critical thought that would break down the mental block of which gender men are approved to have sex with within a given society.

Good point actually, the causation could go either way.

Although in the UK religion is very rarely a barrier to homosexuality I'd say.

I'm sure someone has said this, but your paranoid. if anything, this is a good thing- We're an overpopulated species with all these cures and shit, so the limiting factors are-well- limited. Our population is way off the natural balance.
