I've noticed that I bend my spine while sitting....

I have noticed that whenever I am doing my homework, reading or writing I bend my spine and I look like I have a thousand humps. I don't know why do I do that I just instinctively lower my head and bend my spine towards my notebook so my face is almost immersed into my notebook. I don't know I do it whenever I write or study, do my homework etc. I don't know what should I do. Do you have any advice?

Just don't do it, it is an habit and you fix it trying not to do it.

Not doing it is much easier said that done lol But your body would thank you.
And, once again, get your eyes re-checked. You may feel you need to get uber-close to the text because you're not seeing it well from a distance.
Also, make sure your table/desk is at a good height. If your work space is too small, you might feel compelled to bring your body to your work space.

I'm 39 years old. I have terrible posture. I have always had terrible posture lol. My habits are too ingrained and I simply don't care anymore. When I type or write, I lean forward on my elbows which makes my back appeared hugely humped. If I'm relaxing- reading, watching Hulu etc, I tend to sit on the bottom of my spine instead of my butt. I tend to sit on my feet or have my knees pulled to my chest because my legs ache if they're stretched out or even down with my feet on the floor.
I've had (so far) no long term health problems from sitting this way. BUT- I've developed a sort of alligator skin at the bottom of my spine and on the outside top of my left foot. I think it's interesting and it doesn't bother me, but it is a curiosity lol

If you want to change your habit, do a posture check every few minutes. Set a timer or something if you lose track of time easily.

I have a bad posture also. Like Zhailin, i too tend to sit on the bottom of my spine instead of my butt and the habits are too ingrained. But once in a while i'm aware of it and try to correct it. Better a few times than never.
In my workplace, i'm 8 hours sitting in front of a computer. But if i go to the computer at home, i have a high stand so that i can use the computer while standing up. I never sit down at home.
Whenever i'm watching tv or standing up, i cross my arms on my back. This prevents me from slouching.

Thanks Karloky, I reconsidered my posture again. As I was typing my first sentence I instinctively leaned forward. Maybe find out what causes your terrible posture? I've been working on mine a lot lately and here's a couple of tips.
      - Work out. It really helps for me. As I jog outside I keep my back up straight so that I can breathe more air in.
      - Try meditating with good posture. Both meditating and jogging aren't hard to do, and you can concentrate on your posture easily. Actually I think jogging is a form of meditation as well, both physical and mental.
      - Find out what causes it. For me it's because I used to not wear glasses even though my sight was terrible and it became a habit. Habits are easy to learn yourself, unlearning them is hard and requires dedication and patience.
      - Always be aware. When you're studying or at school, have something remind you all the time. Maybe a small trinket that symbolizes good posture for you.

Being aware is the hardest, and you really need to feel to WANT to better your posture. When you sit down, make sure your feet are shoulder with and flat on the ground. Knees bent in 90 degrees and your upper legs parallel with the ground. Shoulders back and relaxed, if you can't do this then your chair is too high/low or your desk is too high-low. When you're at the computer the screen should be about 60 centimeters away.

That's all I have to say for now. Good luck.

Go to a Chiropractor? I don't know if that's good advice (so much controversy surrounding Chiropractors) but they themselves say it helps posture. Basically the hypothesis is that poor posture is caused by a bad back, and you can't force someone to sit up straight when they don't do it naturally. But if you fix their back then they won't even have to try and it will just feel natural to straighten your back. I can kinda attest to this. I used to try to meditate and keep a straight back but after about 5 minutes it would literally hurt so much I couldn't. Maybe you should do that. Try keeping a straight back for as long as you can, see if it hurts.

you may have abs that are stronger then your lower back, this is a problem for many people including me.

by strengthening your lower back you will be able to correct your posture. this is because your strong back muscles will literally pull your spin back and into alignment
