Question What's the average number of Dreams recalled in one night?

      Hi,

Just a general question regarding the average number of dreams recalled in one night or your average night of sleep. (Say between 6-8hrs.)

Try not to include Dream snippets or fragments if you can, unless they are highly significant.

It doesn't really matter if the dreams are lucid or not.

I'm asking this question because over the last week or two I have only been remembering dream segments or snippets or only remember one dream a night.

My average previously was 1-2 good dreams recalled. If I was gonna get a (DILD) LD that night (early morning), then my nightly recall average would go to 3-4 dreams recalled in good detail. (Especially if I woke up in the middle of the night.)

However last night (after a small cup of apple juice - which I read about on this site,) my recall jumped to 5 dreams last night with very good detail & excellent recall.

(In one of the dreams the text & lettering was as clear as day, not blurry - which is a bit worrying for me as it stops me questioning it as a dream because I don't look at the text a second time!)

The one problem I have is that it can be quite knackering writing the dreams down as I can write a big 'essay' on each. I know I should persevere & not try to winge as good recall is the precursor to LD. They are like brother & sister. I'm not saying this for a 'quick fix' or a shortcut.

Note I do keep a journal.

Hopefully the apple juice is not a placebo effect on me, or a flash in the pan. (Eg: It might be just my digestion system working & acting on the brain?) I will only know this after a week or so. However it does give you a 'kick' if you are having a dry spell, but I don't know long term?

      Regards,

      RobStar.

P.S. (Apologies to all if there is a similar, or same thread relating to this question on the DV site?)

*Moved thread to a more fitting place*

From what I've experienced, "normal" is around 1-3 each night. This is very individual though, so there's nothing "normal" really. Well, then 0 would be the number as most adults don't dream much.

Normal for me, is between 1 dream and 1-2 fragments each night when I get 6-8 hours of sleep.

From what I've read, you get choline from applejuice when digested, so I don't think it's placebo. I notice a change in vividness and recall when I've had a glass of applejuice before bed.

Just tell yourself to write everything you dream down. It can be hard to stay motivated, but your dream recall will improve.

      Hi Matte87,

Thanks for getting back to me & giving me a rough guide.

I will also be more aware when posting new threads!

I had a bit of a quiet patch of not remembering hardly any dreams due to a major circumstance / change in my life which caused a bit of stress.
Normally I try natural methods, so I thought the food / drink option is probably the right way to go for me & it seemed to help. I will know for sure, like I said, after a week.

Thanks for telling me what the (active) ingredient is. I did check the carton beforehand just in case it was laced with E nos.
However, I would advise anybody taking juices / fruit drinks before bed not to skip cleaning their teeth, as there can be a lot of sugar (carbohydrates) added, on top of the natural sugars - depending on the drink.

      As for sweetners - yuck!

      Thanks again...

Disregarding dream fragments, I usually remember an average of one dream a night. But that is up from the one dream per month I was previously able to remember, so that's good.

1-2 usually, plus a few fragments I can't really associate to any of them

1 max 2 - the last one is more detailed and some dream fragments from earlier dreams

I averaged 3-4 a night for 3 months a while back. However, in the past month and half, I've recalled 3 dreams and 2 fragments. Feels bad man.

on average 2-4 (not really an average but it varies due to time and other things)

The most dreams I ever remembered were 8, ironically I didn't record even one because there was too many to put together though most were short
At the fork in the road I turned left while everyone else turned right..
