      Never had a nightmare?

Has anyone else literally never had a nightmare in their life? I mean, I've had sad dreams and stuff, but I've never been chased or haunted or truly scared in any case. I just think it's wierd that in my entire life I havent ever had one.

You are one lucky person, they can be incredibly haunting. I've had nightmares so bad I've literally woken from dreams sweating and trying to catch my breath.

I've never found that the contents of mine were scary, only irritating when I wasn't able to fully control my actions when I was being chased (or whatever was happening). Oh well, I guess I'm lucky for not waking up sweating or screaming from something truly horrible.
I hope you don't have to experience a horrible nightmare anytime soon, though! D:

I don't think I've ever experienced a nightmare as people described. I have a memory in my brain, possibly a false one, of being chased by an evil rabbit that was going to kill me. But it never made an impact.I have had lucids where my mother would be yelling at me and the emotionally feeling from that was scary. She thinks I have a problem with my mind.

Even though I don't remember ever having one, I'm pretty sure I must have had at least a few nightmares when I was a child. Sometimes I have dreams that are slightly unsettling, but only barely so. I don't think I've ever woken up in sweat.

All of my dreams are nightmares. Wanna trade? It's been that way for me for years. In fact, if I ever had a blissful total-relaxation dream, it's getting so I'd feel I'd wasted my time!

I have had some but not in a long time, most of them were people trying to hunt me down and kill me, but i haven't had a nightmare for a couple of years now.

I very rarely have nightmares, but I just had one today. was quite horrifying... My nightmares are always vivid and realistic ones about mayhem and death, usually of other people...

You know, I'm not convinced that in some cases, nightmares don't have something to do with your brain chemistry. I suffer from lifelong biological depression and developed PTSD later in life. My sleep clinic doctor has just put me on Risperidone for nightmares and I've been taking it for four nights now. My nightmares are still nightmares, but they're milder! See my recent DJ entry about "playing Southern belle" (only if you're not easily offended as an American who loves your flag) and it's apparent that an element of comedy is now growing within my nightmares. So I wonder how much brain chemistry has a role to play here.

I was also going to do dream rescripting and use some of my nightmares for my own (professional play and film) scripts. But you can also do that with non-nightmare dreams, right? I wouldn't know, because I haven't really had a non-nightmare dream in about 8 years. The only pleasant moments in my dreams have to do with sex, which, paradoxically, I don't enjoy in real life. (Sorry if TMI, but hey, this is anonymous.) Weird!!

Can't remember my last nightmare I haven't had one in so long. But when they happen it SUCKS. Especially getting stabbed that's the worst feeling you can ever have in a dream imo

Lol not particulary that affected me. Had dreams where I was concerned for other people if that counts. I do recall one that started with a sense of fear and impending evil, as the shadowy figures with the red eyes appeared, but I must have had enough of my brain working to do something about it. That feeling of concern for other people I just extended to the menacing figures, and thats where the nightnare stopped and took on a positive note. Dont recall any nightmares since then. Lots of weird dreams, abstract, some like slideshows or drifting over landscapes watching dramatic events unfold, floods etc, but always felt safe, even when gliding over a vast waterfall - caught by a glowing branch then lol

I haven't had a nightmare since I was really young. Kinda sucks, I enjoy being scared, but movies and video games don't cut it anymore. I can't remember the last time I was ever scared. Wait yea I can, shrooms a couple years back... I can't remember the last time I was scared while completely sober . One of my goals is to be terrified. Might be difficult to do lucid though I dunno how I'll go about it...
