      Other World Archetypes

When you dream of other places unlike your waking life, where do the places you dream of come from?

Mine mainly come from Greek religion, Hawaiian religion, Buddhism, Christianity, Fantasy books, comic books, cartoons, and a little from movies and video games.

That's a good question, it's hard for me to pinpoint anything in particular. I dream of all sorts of areas outside my waking life, but they're usually still related just much larger, with extra rooms or areas. I can't really pick out specific symbols. I suppose books have a big influence, like Jack London or Douglas Adams have both influenced my locales to a degree. Films also influence locations to an extent, as well as comics like Watchmen, Walking Dead, Manga.

Japanese Culture has been an influence as well, including anime like Trigun or Hayao Miyazaki.

My dreams seem to take place in wide open outdoors, or weird architectural designs. it's never really in-between, and that seems weird to me.

Lately Star wars: the old republic has been the inspiration for my dreamscapes. Mainly the two main starter worlds, picture futuristic high tech buildings, vehicles and pastures scattered in a forest with plenty of rivers...

Either my home, my school or wide variety of beautiful, pastoral English countryside Where I find unfamiliar locations I'm usually on a journey in which I meet many obstacles. Architecture often becomes exaggerated into forms of classical, baroque, gothic, modernist/cubist.

To the extent that my dreams are influenced by culture, its usually at the apex of a particular obsession I'm in the middle of.
