I feel as if i am a puppet and cant do anything to gain lucidity in a normal dream

i was wondering if this is normal since i am really new to lucid dreaming, but in my dreams its as if i am been controlled in the dream and i cant perform reality checks, why?

You have to be in a lucid dream to do a reality check. So first you have to become lucid in a normal dream and then you do a RC to confirm.

To become lucid, you could practice technique called MILD to get lucid dreams called DILDs. (Or a technique of your choice). MILD = RCs, daytime awareness and mantras. I see you have a DJ. That will help you with recall, which is very important.

Once your behaviour from daytime (RCs, awareness) starts presenting itself in your dreams, you can become automatically aware, that you are dreaming. Then you do RC to confirm.

      Happy dreams
