      I'm scared of sleeping

      Hey,

I'm here because I have a big problem and need help solving it.

I have been having really deep dreams for about a month now and I'm scared one day i will not be able to wake up.

The scary part is at first, i was only having those dreams once every two weeks but now, it happens 3-4 times a week.

      Here's what happens :

When i try waking up, I wake up inside another dream.

Today, i had to wake up about 12 times before coming back to reality and every time i wake up, i become more aware so, after waking up 6 times and still being in a dream i really start doubting i will ever come back.

What would you do? What if next week i had to wake up 30 times to come back?

You're describing 'false awakenings', I'd give that a google, or I'm sure there are some good pages on the subject on this site.

Don't worry though, despite what the film Inception has made so many people believe, you can't get 'stuck' in a dream. Think about it, have you ever heard of someone being permanently asleep? You probably just need to deal with the concept of false awakenings, understand them a bit better. I'd suggest using them to you're advantage, as they can be very useful in having some fun in your dreams!

Just do RC's to check reality everytime you wake up, or try levitate. You can use this to your advantage, because you will get used to automatically doing an RC when you wake up these false awakening will be like triggers for you.

Yeah, i should practice lucid dreaming.

The thing is when i'm lucid dreaming, i don't really give a crap, i simply follow the story and see where it takes me.

I'm able to control my dreams but i can't do anything crazy.

Let's say i have a dream and it starts fading away, all i have to do is imagine it again and it comes back but, if i try flying i'm going to wake up instantly.

You should learn some stabilization techniques and mantras. Everynight before sleep you say "I can do anything in a lucid dream" or so. Once in the dream you suck all the energy out of the world around you and become infintely strong (it works because it gives you confidence I'd say)

Don't worry; it's physically impossible to get stuck in a dream.

It seems you're experiencing false awakenings when you try to wake up, as opposed to actually waking up. While you may be having trouble forcing yourself to wake up early, you WILL wake up at the end of each REM cycle no matter what. If you don't like going through those false awakenings, just don't try wake yourself up. The dream will eventually end naturally anyway, causing you to wake up whether you want to or not.

I agree with the other posters that you MUST do a reality check every time you wake up. It will help you spot these false awakening every time you have them. Once you know your dreaming you can do absolutely anything you want, or you can wake up if you want to if your afraid of being stuck in a dream, but i would not do that since it is impossible to be stuck in a dream, like what fennecgirl said.
