Do experienced dreamers have bad days?

      Hi everyone.

I have been getting much better at dream recall over the past few months. Most of the time I can recall at least 3 separate fragments and I can fill up at least one page in my notebook. But occasionally (like this morning) I can only remember a single tiny fragment - basically who I was with in my dream. These occasions are very frustrating and when they happen I begin questioning everything I did the previous day/night to figure out what I did wrong. So far I can't come up with any reasons for these bad days. So my question for all of you experienced dreamers - do you have days when you can't remember anything or have a significant decrease in dream recall?

Of course. Sometimes it's due to stress or sleep quality but other times it is just completely out of our control. I wouldn't worry about it too much, usually when I start to worry it just makes me even more stressed. What you're doing for recall sounds more than great already, usually I can't fill up one page.

On certain nights i can recall about 5 vivid/blurry dreams in a single night. Others i get a tiny fragment or nothing at all. We all have these days, and they are nothing to worry about. Just don't get frustrated about it because that is the worst thing you can do What always helped me was after a day of remembering no dreams, i would do the exact opposite of get frustrated. The next morning i would not wake up anxious to remember a dream. I would slowly and calmly wake up in a happy mood THAN try to remember dreams. Good luck!

Thank you very much for your responses. I have been working so hard on recall and LDs and it seemed like such a slap in the face to have these bad days. I am very relieved to hear that this happens to most people (although I would of course love for everyone to have perfect recall every day ).

Queen Zukin - sorry, my first post regarding filling up one page is a bit misleading. I forgot to mention that my early dreams (the ones that I record in the middle of the night) are very large scribbles that take up a quarter page per sentence lol. I've only had a true jam-packed page 4 times.

Work at it, but work at it calmly ... almost nobody likes being pushed around, probably including our own subconsciouness.

Let your inner mind know it is important to you to remember dreams, but if you push too hard, it may rebel.

Of course I'm also biased. I almost never work hard at remembering my dreams, and remember 1 or 2 major fragments a night even when I'm not trying. But when I do try, if I show interest and put in a little effort, things improve. If I get all worried about it and push a lot, things just get worse.

Yes. It's very frequent for me due to it being summer and I've been staying up until 6am :b
