Can dreams be in third person?

Some of my dreams end as if they were a movie and the credits are about to roll up. Like this one dream ended and I was passed out in the grass and it slowly panned out showing how I was in a backyard surrounded by plants, cans, and garbage. And in some of my dreams i'm not even there. I'm somewhere else spectating whats going on.
Dreams are one of my favorite things in this world, I learn so much about myself through dreams. Life would be way to dull without them. Control your dreams, Become Lucid.

Sure, I don't see why not. It's a pretty common thing, I get that every now and then as well.

Oh, you know I always think dreams have limitations... Guess that's something I need to stop thinking lol.

I think that 3rd person dreams might come from playing too many 3rd person video games.

Most of mine are in third person, even some lucids. As Killing already said, it's fairly common. And, in my opinion, those are definitely the best. It's as though I'm watching a movie about me, but with a much more interesting life than IRL.

That really is something you should stop thinking . There are no limits in dreams, anything you can imagine is possible.

I think the only limitation to dreams I can think of now is the dream don't just end there if you die, it'll still continue with you either as a ghost or you survived somehow or you're in 3rd person perspective.

Talking about 3rd person perspective, I got that pretty often too and it makes it a little hard to write it down in my dream journal properly because all the sequences are so messed up. One moment I'm there, the next moment I'm seeing myself in 3rd person perspective then I became another character and I'm not there at all, the dream character had taken control over itself and I'm just viewing the dream from afar!

Yup! It's pretty common. Dreams can be in first person and third person and whatever other person there is

Yah like all my dreams are in 3rd person. The only times they aren't are when I pass out in dreams in which case it switches to 3rd person when I'm unconcious.

My dreams only go to third person after I die.

Pretty much. I died by tsunami, that was a freaking cool zoom out. It was like a 400 ft tall in the middle of America. About 1000 miles away from an ocean.

So someone narrates your dream as you walk around? Or... You're looking at the dream like a movie where the character in focus is not you. But wouldn't the latter one be third person? Lol.

I have experienced many semi-3rd person dreams, I mean controlling myself but seeing myself aswell, lets call it killcam dreams. Infact I have questioned myself often why this happens. I figured out why finally, its because of two reasons mainly, could be both affecting you.

      1. Video games. Usually not totally FPS like counter strike or call of duty, but more blended 1st person, like skyrim and/or other rpgs, MMOrpgs, gta games (san andreas) that after hours of playing stick to your head and affect your view of reality, which comes up in a dream.

      2. Thinking a lot in dreams. Because it's a dream, thoughts as you may have noticed aren't that blur or different from reality. The dream is just a brain-generated reality, so is your thought, so if you are in a bus in your dream and think of something ( thought in a thought ) like someone visiting your house later, it may change the whole scene and you'll land in your house waiting for that person. But what does that have to do with 3rd person dreams? Thoughts and memories are most of the times 3rd person, so your dream becomes just a representation of thoughts, especially if it's non-lucid.

Sometimes when a non-lucid dream ends and I'm about to wake up I am aware of my dream body and I can see my real body in 3rd person. I did get lucid once by entering the dream and stabilizing, but most of the time I have a really low level of awareness and realize it 3-4 seconds later.

      I had a false awakening in 3rd person... I didn't even realise.

Most of the time my dreams start in third person and then switch to first person. Sometimes I won't even be in them at first, but I'll end up being in the center.
