So I just realized I must be dreaming with my eyes open sometimes.

It's happened to me twice now that I had a scene in my dream that seemed somehow stuck in place, I came back to this scene multiple times in my dreaming, and at some point woke up and saw a real world scene that was the exact source of that scene, just to re-encounter it in myself after that identification. This happened to me again last night. I had several lucid moments last night, and I believe I had some the last time this happened too.

Last night, I kept ending up at this scene where I was stuck looking at this pattern, reminded me of a person. In my dream I could not move (happens to me often enough) -- I could not walk around, turn my head, I was just stuck staring at this thing, but I could think pretty freely. After ending up in that state a couple times I woke up enough to see that a blanket by me was wrinkled in the ~exact~ pattern of what I'd been stuck looking at, and was the exact same color. However, in my dream I felt much more like I was looking at some rendition of a person, like a sculpture, than just folds in a blanket.

The last time this happened to me, I was seeing patterns of light in my room from things plugged in, a series of lights, including red, and in my dream I kept seeing this pattern on the floor that somehow very oddly stayed constant. And when I woke enough in real life and I saw the ~exact~ pattern in its real context, it was an odd realization. If you've heard of jamais vu (like deja vu but you feel like you've never seen something that is in fact familiar) -- it was akin to that. Like finally figuring out which room you woke up in -- oh yeah, my bedroom like always!

And just a few moments ago I realized the implication (which you'd think would have been more obvious) -- in both cases I was dreaming with my eyes open.

There are several other threads about the eyes somehow open, some more similar to mine than others, but none seem to match the near exactness of the images I pulled in both times.
