What time of the night was it? It's really hard to know if what you experienced was a REM or not, but I would venture to say it was just a weird REM dream. |

Last night I had this dream, it wasn't lucid, but it was weird and very emotional. It was completely dark, and open space. I was only a consciousness, and knew I had no corporeal body. I knew there were others around me and they were all only consciousness as well. It seemed we were all stacked or arranged in certain ways but we knew the space that contained us was endless vastness. The feelings that predominated were abandonment, sadness, and fear that this is all that is, almost like the idea of purgatory after death. There wasn't any talking but we telepathically knew the emotions of one another. When I woke up, it left residual sadness and almost an idea of I hope that isn't how it is after death because that was so horrible. Was this a NREM dream or was it just a bizarre normal dream? |

You might also want to PM Sageous unless he sees this thread and answers here. He seems to have the most experience with NREM. Most of the ones I have had that Sageous thought were likely NREM were less complex than that one, but who knows. A very interesting dream indeed! Do you feel that you were lucid or semi-lucid at all? |

It's hard to say if I was lucid. There seemed to be no lucidity needed, like it was beyond a dream. I've never had anything like that at all. Only other times, which are few, that my dreams have been completely dark is during some dream chains, but then it's only say one scene out of five and I knew it was a dream, even upon waking. This seemed to be totally different than a dream. |
