A theory on where dreams take you

Hey guys. I have always had a theory on where yoiur mind goes whenb you dream. I think, that somewhere in this universe, there is another you, but doing something differently. theoretically, with their pants down, flying, etc.
I think that when you dream, you take on that alternate self for a bit.

comment as you please, and if you want, say your theory.

and by the way, I share this theory with Mr. Tom Delonge (formerly of Blink-182, now in Angels and Airwaves)

Does that imply that the other me sees what I am doing when he sleeps? If so, his dreams must be very, very boring.

But the other me travels around galaxys so much, destroys things, helps with ending the world and sometimes, is helpful... Anyway, if he is so powerful and within this universe, why not come here to meet me? Maybe other dimension/realm/plane/something, tough in this universe, I has heard of so many people being omnipotent in dreams that it would make it easy to find the us in earth.

I think that thats utterly fentickyulous. to be completely truthful dreams aren't real there just a construct of your mind. if there was a crazy superpowred goof flyin around we might see the efffects of that. The only thing i agree with is the part where you said you were a ninny.

If that were true, the other version of myself must be living a pretty incredible life.

It reminds me of Dwight Schrute's description of 'Second Life.' Everything was exactly the same, except his Second Life character could fly.

It is fun to think about

Really embracing it could lead to some pretty awesome dreams. Imagine the implications of having an whole "other self" you wanted to explore with and learn about. Seems to me that you would deeply connect with who you really are, not just who you pretend to be.

If by in this universe you mean inside your head, and if by another you, you mean an internalized dream interpretation of you, then yes you are correct.

Otherwise, you have lots of reading to do. I would start with learning the definition of theory.

What evidence do you have suggesting that dreams are in any way real?

Start The Machine was an awesome documentary.. After watching that Angels & Airwaves just meant more to me. But I love to hear tom's theories no matter how crazy, and I think it's awesome that he sings about dreams in a lot of his songs. It was mainly his music that led me here.

It's amazing, looking back and seeing how my views have changed. This is still such a fun thing to think about though!

Graduating High School and College. I did a fair bit. But no matter how old I get, this idea is still fun to imagine. I realize it's not very feasible, but it is a fun notion to entertain.

I like to keep an open mind. It isthe best mentality for lucid dreaming.

Could be that the current existence you live in is one of many universes, all of which explore every possibility and eventuality that could ever occur.
That this shared dream which we all co-participate in is one of many eventualities where we try in vain to learn and comprehend the secrets of the universe, hypothesize what could be and convey our dreams and existential musings through music, fiction, art, movies etc.

Could it be that we all imagine possibilities and try to steer our future towards it, often at odds with each other seeing the world with different eyes, different subjective experiences.
Could evolution just be a means to explore the infinite? Perpetuate change through seemingly random chaos?

Maybe dreams often tell us that the ego is an illusion, that we are all interconnected in some way shape or form, if we can only see who and what we are from a different angle? Are we all individual conciousnesses or just a manifestation of a different eventuality?

Just rambling here, with no particular belief in what I've put forward nor backed by any scientific qualifications. Fun to explore though, trying to define reality gets harder the more you try to break it down into smaller bits.

Could be that your neurons just randomly assemble data from your experiences and jumble them together, allowing you to see things in a different light, allowing you to explore possibilities, tackle you fears via simulation etc.

It's late here, might have to get some shuteye in a bit, lol.

Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Here’s Tom with the weather.
