      Color of your dreams?

Ok, I read in a book somewhere that most people's dream's were in black and white. I thought that was weird because my dreams have always been vivid and full of color.

So, what color are your dreams in?

Mine are in color. At least, I think they are.

My mom said that she read somewhere a while back that dreaming inn color meant that, basically, you are smarter, and that most people dream in black and white. I feel like this just isn't accurate, but I'll go with it since I dream in color, haha.

Mine are normally in colour, but a lot of the time they are coloured with single colour-schemes, mostly dark browns and greens.

Yeah, I am pretty sure that is wrong. I remember in every dream I have had it has been in color.

I have always dreamed in color as does everyone I have ever known except my 13 year old daughter who may be fibbing for the sake of being different.

I heard someone say once that people used to dream in black and white more frequently before television became common place. I don't know where they heard that or if it's true or not.

I dream in color too, I suppose, because whenever I become lucid the colors bleed through even more vividly. Although I thought I remember hearing that the whole 'dreaming in B&W' is mostly a myth. Sure, you can have B&W dreams, but I don't think that's the 'NORM' for everyone.

      But I could be wrong.

Mostly in clear vivid colors like the way I see things in real life.
Sometimes it's a haze of soft, muted colors like in my siggy. I have had at least one black and white dream that I can remember, but that didn't stay black and white very long, it gradually became colored.

I believe it is colored, never really payed attention.

Could you use the black and white to get lucid?
I mean, yeah do a reality check..but how many of you think it would work?
Seeing in black and white in your dreams, how many of you are aware of it?

They're not always black and white, though some peoples' are. I've read the tiny bit of research on it that I could get my hands on.

My dreams are in color, but usually don't tend to be very colorful. Not the way that in RL EVERYTHING around you has crazy colors and everything is different. Usually it'll be a sort of semi-washed out kind of world and things important to the dream that I'm focused on will have color. I had a dream about a Rubik's Cube a few weeks ago and it was pretty colorful.

The exception is my lucid dreams, where I'm kind of taking charge and focus, and making the dream very vivid and realistic, in which case they become so.

Every so often I'll have a regular dream that is sort of washed out. Everything will tend to be one shade, or mostly one shade, like there's a huge colored lamp shining on the world. It's usually a dark bluish.

      Yeah..Im quoting myself.

Now that I think about it, I don't believe I would be able to get lucid because of colors in a dream.
In RL colors are amazing to me!
So..if I saw a weird color in a dream I wouldn't think twice about it.

But then again....I should RC every time I see a weird(amazing) color....

      Huh...

      O_o

Mine have always been in color. But for some reason they're usually in 3rd person, like there's a camera behind me... probably been watching too much TV...

It is a common misconception that it is most people. There are some people who have black and white dreams, if I remember right, it is somewhere between 8 and 12 percent. I think it was also more common in men.

Yea, it has nothing to do with intelligence. However, I'm sure more attention to your dreams can cause better color to occur.

Mine are in color. The value and hue usually depends on the mood of the dream. If it is a nightmare, it will usually turn darker. (My favorite is when I have classic nightmares, like Wolfman and Dracula. Those turn near black and white like the old movies.)
      Bollocks.

MOST people dream in color, and SOME people dream in black and white. You got it backwards.

I've dreamt completely in grayscale before, but I don't usually dream in FULL color unless it's a lucid dream. I would perhaps liken my normal dreams' color palette to someone who was colorblind to a few select colors. But, it's never the same, so...I can't complain.

EDIT: I think the color quality in my dreams is typically based on an 8-bit palette:
