Anyway to take Freddy Krueger off my mind?

Ok, I know this is going to sound crazy but, for over a year now, I've been trying to Lucid Dream before I go to bed and think of the mantras in my head.

But one thing that's been bothering me is I can't get Freddy Kruger off mind,
like if I were to enter Lucidity, he's going to appear there right before my eyes.

Silly, I know. But if you seen his movies, you know the thought of
him being in your dreams is just freaky and weird.

Yeah if you get into a lucid dream and keep thinking about him, he'll probably show up. If you can't get him off your mind go all Dream Warrior on his ass like the 3rd movie.

That's a good idea on how to dream about what you want to, that's how i dream about someone i know the other day and it was lucid.

If he shows up, just beat the crap out of him. With most DCs like him, once you give them a good ass-kicking, they'll never return.

I have that looping song from the strangers stuck in my head.
      And it's night time here.
      And dark.
      Alone.

Replace him in your mind. Replace him with a beautiful woman, or a lovely place. Instead of trying to not think about him, think about something else, and focus on that.

I'm all for the "kill it" approach. You can dispose of poor Freddie in a number of
jolly ways. Although it's simple to just 'poof' anything out of the dream, you
might experience more joy going about your business in a, shall we say, more
physical manner. It can even be your own personal dream task.

just think of him in his underwear.

      or something.
the news reports on the radio said it was getting worse
as the ocean air fanned the flames
but i couldn't think of anywhere i would have rather been
to watch it all burn away

For some reason, Freddy never scared me that much. I think his sense of humor just puts me at ease.

If I was you I would seriously bend him over and rape him. I'm a little weird that way... but there's no other way to put him below you than to actually rape him. I mean how can you take him seriously after such an event.

A lot of these answers may be helpful but I'm not sure if they address the actual problem. What you're dealing with is the basic primal emotion of fear, Hollywood has been playing with these primal emotions for years in order to evoke strong reactions and reap large profits. I used to deal with a very similar problem, every time I would lay down to bed and think about anything, there was this dark side of me that would want to turn the beautiful images into horrific ones, then the more I tried to suppress this, the harder it was to get rid of it. The solution is actually much more simple than it may seem. First you must realize that fear is simply an emotion and all of us have a "dark" side that our Superego tells us is wrong and our Ego struggles to deal with, but it is something that is not meant to get rid of. What you must do, when lying down to bed is, not to confront "Freddie" or whatever projection of fear you may have, but instead to simply allow your brain to think about this, and then allow it to pass, just as in meditation. In meditation you do not suppress your thoughts you simply allow them to pass and soon your fleeting thoughts will silence, this is true control over your self and emotions. The battle with the self is the longest one of all, and that is something that we must all confront when delving into the worlds of the inner-psyche. Don't worry, with a little bit of meditation and brain control, you will soon find that you are maturing, and that the silly fears of the dark and being a child are simply that -- childish fears.

Just remember, allow the thoughts to come, and allow them to pass, do not try to suppress or manipulate them in anyway. Soon they will cease.

Well Freddy is the best Oneironaut period, hands down! One thing you can do is try reframing. It's an NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) technique that people use to re-sketch mental images of horrible things in the past or things in the future that give them anxiety.

This is one variation of the NLP reframe, you can google more if you'd like.
