Any use in keeping a DJ?

First off, if you're not going to DILD. Why keep a DJ?

I think I heard somewhere that it somehow "Increases vividness" of following dreams. But how?

I VERY rarely write down dreams or even try.

      I have poor recall.

And I assume this is why I have almost NO LD's.. Is this correct?

      YES.

Keeping a DJ forces you to call up memories that you have no need for in everyday life. Like crossword puzzles or Sudoku, the more you do it, the easier it becomes. Your recall improves, just by going through the process of writing down your dreams.

And it's easy. You don't have to write up long, eloquent entries to post online. Take two minutes in the morning to jot down a few simple keywords or phrases. This can be refined to an art.

Anyway, you actually post to the DJ section, so... what brought this on?

I pick up a half-eaten copy of a book by Neil Gaiman, and decide this is all his fault.

Your DJ is going to be your best friend while lucid dreaming (and, basically, your guide - because you WILL forget experiences, over a short period of time).

Believe me. It's worth the effort.

I havent had a single LD since starting my dj. My recall did improve for a week but then it dropped again. In my opinion recall and LDs have nothing to do with eachother. I have never been able to have a WILD but all of my lucid dreams have been DILD and I always remember lucids fully.
I accept that my reality is always a dream so if something changes I know I'm right.

The only reason NOT to keep a DJ would be laziness.
As children we believe anything is possible. As adults, we need to remember it.

It's really important. I was keeping a dream journal for a few days in a row about two weeks ago. My recall was beginning to improve. Since then I stopped, I've barely remembered a dream since. I had a lucid last night though. I remember it was pretty long, but I can barely remember any of the details. DJ's help recall IMMENSELY. I'm definitely going to start up the dream journal again soon, hopefully tonight.
