Sleep paralysis was kind of awesome

I had my second lucid dream this morning but when it came to an end, I found myself awake but in a state of paralysis. It's the first time I have ever experienced it but I have done enough reading on the subject to know what was going on as it happened.

The experience was pretty much exactly what I had read about: inability to move or talk, dull buzzing in my head, intense feelings of fear, heard incoherent babbling of "someone" in the room as well as what sounded like some large animal eating on the opposite side of me.

I panicked initially but once I realized that this was exactly what I had read about, I sort of embraced everything that was happening. My sense of fear was still there but I kept telling myself that it's all in my head and there is nothing in the room that can hurt me. It lasted what felt like maybe 10 minutes, during which I drifted in and out of a dream.

I really hope I experience this again. It never ceases to amaze me what our brains are capable of projecting on top of reality. Don't get me wrong, I was pretty damn scared for most of the ordeal but I now liken it to a really, really intense horror movie.

Anyone else agree or is the general consensus that sleep paralysis really sucks?

I love going through sp. The only time I woke myself up from it, was when I felt someone in my bed. That freaked me out haha.

Damn, yeah that would definitely scare the crap out of me. I could hear something very large to my left (out of my line of vision) eating. It was as if you put a microphone right next to a dog while he was tearing away at a piece of meat. While I knew it was all being hallucinated, it was definitely terrifying.

Like I said, it was like watching an epic horror movie....definitely wouldn't mind experiencing that kind of terror again!

my sp only lasted a couple of seconds, i thought it was a dream and i only couldnd move or open my eyes so all is saw was darkness.

I think that sp is kind of relaxing. I don't know why.

I really don't hear that much noise during sp. Well not as much as other people say they hear.

I heard one of my friends saying that he can hear songs while SP, ironically he cant explain how

I think that would be pretty cool. It's better than annoying noises.

It amazes me that all our sleep paralysis experiences are so similar. You would think they would be as diverse as our dreams.

I'm with you here. The fact that SP is almost invariably experienced as a nightmare is pretty crazy.

I agree that sleep paralysis is a very cool feeling, if you manage to get past the "HOLY CRAP SOMEONE'S ON MY BED!!".

I've managed to get through it quite a few times when that happened, and that only made it more interesting. Sensations that someone's lying down next to me or whatever doesn't bother me at all.

Full body sleep paralysis happened to me like two times in my life and it felt like a person came to my bed and lied down on me. After a minute or so of me in a panic state the person would stand and go away. Pretty fucked up if you ask me.

Good thing I heard about full body paralysis from a tv documentary (about a haunted hotel) before. I don't know if I could be sane the morning after if I hadn't. Hah.
