I want to meditate in real life so I can get the stress from school down because that's why I think I hadn't recalled a dream a long time, any specific meditations I should try? |

Meditation is a form of receding back into the core of your consciousness. It often brings people the realization that their egos are fiction, stories carefully written by an unstoppable flow of reactions to sensory input. These stories replace the present moment in our minds so that the most important times seem to be in the past or future. The present, the moment that has always been, is increasingly forgotten. |

I have meditated in a dream and to be honest...its a little overwhelming. I was in an outer body experience that seemed too real at first, then the next time I did it I felt as if I was a ghost in my own dream world. I still had control of what i was doing, like going through walls and moving objects, but I couldn't react with any of my dream characters. No one seemed to notice I was standing right there with them in my dream. After that I came to a realization and haven't done it since. Its not the best thing to try. |

The style that I like is called Mindfulness. It descends from Buddhist practices, but you don't necessarily need to embrace Buddhism to benefit from it. In mindfulness meditation, you simply observe the processes in your mind. You acknowledge your thoughts without judgment, attachment, or analysis. You concentrate on the breath, recognize thoughts as they arise and then let them go, returning to the breath. It's a deep subject but I recommend it to anyone. A good book is Mindfulness In Plain English. |

Well, I have meditated several times in a dream, but not for self-enlightment, just to recover memories. And I just lay in a place, close my eyes and do it? Don't have a technique for it. |

agreed, mindfulness is very much like a constant reality check! |
