As long as you know you're dreaming, it's a lucid dream. Try the nose pinch RC, just pinch your nose and try to breathe through it. |

I did the reality test in real life, by throwing something in the air and catching it, (Chapstick of all things) and sure enough I tried it a dream (too see if I was dreaming), but nothing unusal happened, but after I did it in the dream I thought thought, "This sucks Im dreaming, but the test ain't working, because its still coming down as normal. |

Thanks for the advice!, it seems a lot of people like the nose pinch RC. If you use more than one RC test during the day, can that muck things up? Is it |
|
It's actually better to do more than one each time you remember to RC, since in a dream, especially yours up there, one can fail. The nose pinch one hardly ever fails since in a dream, your body asleep in bed is still breathing. |
|
Thanks again for the tip, I will also try that one. |

Look at your hands that's my favorite,it for me seems to be the most effective. You'll notice there's gonna more/less than 5 fingers and its gonna be very deformed. It's not as scary as you think, first time I did that one in a dream I was like that's really not that weird. Of all the weird things that happen in your dreams deformitys don't really matter to you. Strange huh. I recommend doing this one because the Breathing one sometimes fails or you don't register it properly, I don't even notice im breathing in dreams. |

As lucid invader said look at your hands for mine they are'nt deforemed but I try and stretch them out and the go all blurry and out of focus, another one I like to use is the text reaility check, look at a piece of text and look back in a dream 9/10 times it changes. However as said before do not rely on one reality check because sometimes it acts as it does in reality when you are in the dream state, good luck |
|
usually ld's are pretty unmistakable you'll know one if your having one. a burst of realization not by an evaluation when you wake up. The best for me is jumping since everytime i do it it feels im floating back in to my bed. |
|
I guest the nose pinch RC is the favorite of many people (include me) because it seems to be the most reliable and easiest RC. You only need one hand and a nose to do this RC and it takes a second to know if you are dreaming, never fail. You can use many RC tests, but I think it's not necessary. I personally use only nose pinch RC and it's super effective! |
|
I don't always get a burst of realization when I wake up is weird, In fact I had this one dream when I was little that was so vivid even when I woke up I thought it actually happened, Course I could have been hallucinating also because I did alot when I was way young. I thought I broke One of my fingers and I didn't remember that if I went to the hospital or not but I just accepted it as my reality. It came up in conversation once and they said it never happened which really was hard for me to accept. I still can't accept it didn't happen. |

Kind of off topic but... |

I still wonder why Reality Checks actually fail during OBE-type dreams. Guess it proves that your supposed rationality and logic during OBE-type dreams are not that strict at all. |

I only differentiate OBEs from Lucid Dreams by their mundaneness and stillness: If I wake up in my room with nothing spectacular occurring, and it feels difficult to alter the fundamental physics of my experience, then it's an OBE to me. If, however, I wake up and am overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of what I'm experiencing in a non-locally identifiable place, then it's an LD to me. |

No reality checks are 100% foolproof. As you said in your original post, by the time you perform the reality check, you normally already know you are dreaming. |
|
People don't want to be lucid. People want to be conscious enough to be able to do things. That minor spark that gives you the urge to do an RC will fade if the RC doesn't work right. I once did an RC and counted 6 fingers and thought that 6 was the normal number and I continued dreaming normally. |

Interestuing, Im waiting for the weekend to try, where my mind can relax. |
