Question Is blurry text for all? And why does it happen?

To me this is something I have been thinking about for a while as I learn more and more about LD'ing. I read that somewhere that most people can't see text, or when they do it's blurred or distorted, however this makes no sense to me because it a flipped version of what we do everyday.

Think of a city sign signifying the streets.

Now, when I ask you to describe a sign you would say "It said blah, blah, blah, ect" and it was the green one. What confuses me is why is it that the things you remember most about text are not actually jumbled or replaced. It seems as though you wouldn't say "the green and silver sign, about 3 feet tall, located 10 ft off the ground and I don't remember what it said"

Do id say this photo (or "dream") would have thousands and thousands of shades of colors and details that you see everyday, but don't care about. So why is it that text is usually not seen, and even at that, think about clocks! Everyone has seen a clock, yet clocks just happen to not work in dreams?

And at that, why blurred? Why not jumbled letters or numbers? It seems like that would make sense, but blurred/distorted lines just seems to specific and it seems like your brain isn't even trying to remember a sign you have seen like that before (thus attempting to put letters there.)

I don't really know I'm saying here, it could be something completely off and just something I'm acting crazy about, but is there some sort of basis for this?

Off-topic: What does RC stand for?

I think it is because of what we are concentrating on, whole or parts of a whole. A picture is a whole, it has everything I needs to be what it is. Text on the other hand is a bunch of parts, letters, words, sentences that make up a whole. You could picture in your mind one Mona Lisa but could you picture 20 on a page? That's what text is, 20, 30, 40 squiggly lines in precise order and placement. Not only would your 20 Mona Lisa's have to be on a page but they'd all have to be in their own unique look, direction, in the right place, within the right pattern. This is way more than we are perhaps ever capable of. Then as you read you move your attention around to different places in the text rearranging how you see it and giving more importance to some aspects and less to others. And numbers are basically letters that have numerical significance.

This is all complicated by the fact that we are waiting for the numbers or text to tell us something. You are the creator here, you have to demand what the words are to mean, or what the time should be. If you do not specifically tell the clock to be 8:25 then it won't be.

A good goal would be to see how many things you could concentrate at a time. Its actually harder than you think.

Whilst the mind is incredibly good at creating an alternate reaility...dreams it is not like waking reaility as it is inconsistent in that text is always changing clock hands moving erratically etc. In regards to your question for me it varys sometimes text is blurry and unreadable others it is very clear.

Mere speculation, but did you know that the letters in the middle of words are largely unimportant. Yuo shloud stlil be albe to raed tihs hree, rghit?

Also, parts of the brain responsible for lexical understanding may be inactive, or partially inactive, when asleep - Areas such as Broca's and Wernicke's area. We may even be experiencing aphasia when asleep. ^_^

I think Inphinity raises a good point. That can also explain why when people have an OBE/WILD their room is not an exact replica - certain things in the room change frequently, so these items leave less of an 'impression' on the mind.

This all relates to the jumbled-up mess or distortion of words, but does not account for 'blurriness'. I don't have that, so cannot comment.
