Dreams where in the dream, I am where I actually am

Hi there, this is my first post and I just joined this forum ... I am not familiar with the terminology, but look forward to learning.

I have been vivid (lucid?) dreaming for many years, and it is always a conscious effort brought on purposefully ... usually, I "meditate" lying down on my back with the "intent" to have an experience.

I have many times had the dream experience that begins right there where I fell asleep. In my bed, or where ever I am is where the dream begins.

For example ... I recently went backpacking by myself, and was lying in my sleeping bag not far from a stream. I fell asleep and in the dream I felt hands over my eyes. I immediately felt a "recognition" of "them", and said, "is that you?" ... in my being I recognized that "yes! It IS you!!!" as if I was expecting them ... and I very excitedly got up and was frolicking around with them ... and, all sorts of forest animals big and small. I was very agile, like an animal, myself. I never saw who/what the being who's hands I felt over my eyes were ... I often have trouble with "sight" in dreams ... maybe that is a "control" thing ... a fear thing of maybe not fully wanting to see "it", out of the fear of what I might see ... if that makes sense.

Another nature experience ... I was in my sleeping bag in Keams Canyon, AZ ... I fell asleep and then there was a man standing over me right there ... a native american, and he said "the clouds are really going to be moving fast today" ... I said, "Oh?" ... he said "yeah" ... and I woke up to realize I was right there where I was in my sleeping bag, in the dream. I fell asleep again, then awoke early morning looking up at the sky to see clouds rolling past faster than I have ever seen clouds move. I later spoke to someone that was visiting the grand canyon, not far away as the crow flies, and they too confirmed how quickly the clouds were moving ...

Does this sound like what you call lucid dreaming?

Well do they dreams include a point that you realize Hey Im dreaming? If you dont know that you are dreaming than it is not a lucid dream.

      And welcome to DV

Tranquil Toad - I would say I agree with you on that, as it is often my intent to "go higher" so to speak and "broaden" my perception ... I often experience a sense of "floating up" and that often accompanies "astral noises" and sometimes sounds as well ... I do think its my intent to experience "broadened or heightened reality" prior to the experience ... so I don't know if this is another form of what this forum is about, or if you guys are about something different ... either way its got to be all related, right ?

It is technically if you knew you were dreaming.

However, what do you think it was? What do you think that man and those animals were? Independent of anyone's opinion, including mine below.

My take on that is that you are actually in an astral layer when you experience that. To put it vaguely, any location actually has many layers to itself which extend beyond the range of physical senses. So you are at the same stream as when you are awake, just a version of it which exists in a higher frequency range. Many beings which cannot exist fully in physicality would be perceptible at such a level.

I think so ... what makes me think so is because there is often a thought about "trying not to wake up" .. usually I get too excited about the experience and wake up prematurely - in other words part of me wants to stay in the experience and part of me , a fearful part, wants to wake up because I am afraid of being in an altered "state"/place ...

To get the most information on stuff like that you would check in the beyond dreaming section. I myself tend to stay away from that section because I am pretty skeptical of things i have no experience with.

Ya most of this forum is more just the practical how to of lucid dreaming, and people sharing their experiences. Not much in the way of spiritual stuff, and what does exist is usually restricted to beyond dreaming (which where anything not proven by science is discussed.)

That's cool about the man telling you about the clouds. Maybe if you got to know some of the people/creatures you meet when you have these experiences they could help to expand you.
