Knowing you are dreaming, but not really

So I had a very strange, but amazing dream last night. My recall was amazing and the dream lasted for a very long time.

Anyway, my dream-self knew it was a dream but it wasn't lucid. I said inside the dream "well this is a dream, so I can do whatever I want" and such.
But I was never lucid. I have only been lucid once and I have to say this was much better. I did everything I would do if I was lucid, flying, killing monsters, girls etc but the dream was perfectly clear and it took no effort or dream control at all. I could hardly even fly when I was lucid.
In the dream I said to my dream-friends "Since this is a dream, I can do whatever I want I just have to BELIEVE that its possible" just like I've read on this site. I flew with such ease and felt like Superman

Have you ever had something like this before?

Well I did have something like that but I knew I was dreaming but I couldn't remember what I wanted to do. When I woke up I was mad at my self for not remembering. I had that happen to me more than once.

Man, the mind is truly a wonderful and crazy thing. It's almost hard to comprehend. So you dreamt that you realized you were dreaming and then went on to live out your "fantasies"? So, at it's core, what you had was a very very vivid regular dream?
As children we believe anything is possible. As adults, we need to remember it.

I think some people here call it semi-lucid. You know your dreaming yet your not really lucid.

Happened to me before, it is certainly interesting. I even made a thread about and got an in-depth discussion going here: http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/false-...7/#post1569293

Isn't that in essence what the word "lucid" means (being aware that one is in a dream)?
Is there some other requirement to define a dream as lucid that I am not aware of?
Maybe you all are talking about the times you know you're dreaming, yet it's like "oh, just another dream"...
