      Lucid dream killer?

I was watching CNN earlier today and came across a story about a lucid dream addict, Jared Lee Loughner, who shot Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and three members of her staff late last week. I was immediately incredulous when I heard this. How could someone confuse a dream with reality, assuming that he knew about reality checks, because if he were to perform a violent action, like shooting a public figure, he would certainly perform some kind of state test beforehand. He is up for the insanity plea right now on the grounds of his mental state during the crime, being that he thought he was dreaming. Any thoughts?

There is another thread on this already here: http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/danger...ooting-108813/
One way or the other, LD helps people distinguish between dreams and waking, so using a LD as an excuse isn't really going to work <.<
I say, he was crazy before hand, then just fueled that with dreams and whatever was in reach.

Never expect to every happen, but for a fact it cant be because of lucid dream, it's the killer!.
      What is wrong with him...
If he was a lucid addict, he must have been addicted to wanting to have it... since it appears that he can't the difference between dream and reality -.-.

Did whatever you were watching actually say that he was planning to use "I thought I was dreaming" as a defense? I did a search and from what I could find he's only had one meeting with the judge and his lawyers have no filed anything about him pleaing insanity yet.

I don't think think lucid dreaming is at fault

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

I agree. But the OP is saying that the shooter is using "I thought I was dreaming" as part of his insanity defense. I can't find anything saying he is even confirmed that they are going for the insanity defense, so I'm wondering where the OP is getting his info.

Well he's either insane or using lucid dreaming as an excuse for what he did...
Either way, cases like that are rare
