I told myself I was dreaming but that didn't work....

So today I was dreaming that I woke up from my bed and I saw my mom in another bed awake so I said to myself that's impossible and that I'm dreaming and I even thought about it logically but then nothing happened I didn't become lucid and I went to the bathroom....The End lol
But the problem is that this happens quite a lot something or someone tells me I'm dreaming but I never become lucid......I WANT TO HAVE A LUCID DREAM ALREADY lol.
So does this mean I'm close to lucid dreaming?and will I ever have one???

I think that by saying you are dreaming you are in fact lucid. The problem for you seems to be a very low level of lucidity, or you just forget that it's a dream right away. Do you have a reality check to do?

mmmm not really.....but I mean I was really convinced I was dreaming but then I don't know how to explain it but for a sec I thought well what if I wasn't dreaming I'd look pretty crazy yelling I'm dreaming so I went along with the dream....this always happens to me every time I realize I'm dreaming I just fall back....

You just lost lucidity, you need to do reality checks.

In a case like that reality checks really do help. Because if you stick your hand through a wall or something, then obvious you are dreaming and there is no more, what if's.

Um, saying "I'm dreaming" doesn't makes you lucid, one thing is saying something, another one is understanding it, but yeah it sounds like you were lucid. Also, that you were lucid, doesn't means that you will suddenly feel free to do anything, so its normal to feel a bit ashamed of yelling. Just try to do a RC as suggested, or stop and think about the situation, or stabilize, or something that isn't the dream-plot <.<

Lol this has happened to me ;P I think I know what you should do. Do you do reality checks? (I'm pretty sure every lucid dreamer does) While you're doing it don't act just like it's routine like whatever it's a reality check I do it all te time, you gotta actually question if it's reality and really think about it
We are only truly free in our dreams.
