Dreams Within Dreams and no control!

I have been attempting to lucid dream for a couple weeks now, reality checks, dream journals etc.

The problem is I keep having dreams within dreams... for example

Dream1: I am at a party, I actually realized I was lucid dreaming so I tryed to control everything, but I couldnt control anything... I then "woke up"

Dream2: I just woke up from the dream about the party and am telling my mom about it, I even have conversations with her about how I try to lucid dream and control them.

Then I actually woke up for real. It seems like I can recognize when I am dreaming but do not have control, and these dream within dreams trick myself into thinking I am awake when I am still sleeping... this is all so confusing and new, so any insights or comments are appreciated.

FA - False Awakening - Dreamviews Lucid Dreaming Community & Resource

False awakenings are very common, especially when delving into Lucid Dreaming. The best way to mitigate them is to get into the habit of Reality Checking every time you wake up.
