      Auto off android alarm?

I want to do try having mid-night WILD dreams by setting my alarm to about 5 hours after I should be asleep. But the problem is the built-in android alarm doesn't turn off automatically, and turning it off myself will make it less likely to re-enter the REM stage directly. Is there any alarm that I can set how long I want it to ring for?

Go to market. Alarm Clock Plus.

      https://market.android.com/details?i...mClockPlusDock

It's what I use. When it goes off, I wake up. No questions.

You can set it to auto dismiss after a certain number of seconds. No touchies.

That is cool. Can you set it to vibrate? Then put it in your sock, or your pajama pocket? It would be cool to have it vibrate once or twice every hour as a little in-dream reminder.

That is a good idea. I'll have to find a way to do that.

Maybe putting the phone under my pillow, set to vibrate... it'd be audible, but not loud enough to wake me, just enough to nudge the ol' dreaming mind.

You can set it to vibrate and/or be loud. It has tons of settings.

Hmm, I am going to try the "under my pillow" idea, and set it to go like every 25 minutes, so I can be sure it goes off during a REM cycle.

Last night I set five alarms to go off every 30 minutes. Set to ring quietly for five seconds each (no vibrate) and left the phone on the bedside table.

I didn't remember any dreams thismorning (not unusual), but I suspect the alarms may have been a touch too quiet. I didn't want them to wake me, but they may have been too quiet even to register with my mind.

I didn't try my vibrating under the pillow idea because a breif experiment indicated that it's far from subtle. It turned out to be extremely noisy when vibrating under a pillow with my head on it. Maybe wearing socks and putting it in my sock is a good idea?

Tonight I will try with a slightly louder alarm.

      I have a request, though.

I need a sound file of someone saying 'you're dreaming', or just 'dreaming' etc. I tried myself, but my voice is pretty harsh and if it's loud enough to work, I think it'd wake me.

Anyone with a soft sort of voice want to volunteer? I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one who could use the file.

Equus, I could give it a shot, just know nothing about sound files or how to send them.

Also, for us android-ers.... Im starting to use ElectricSleep app, u lay ur phone on ur bed and it will track ur sleep patterns all night!
So you can actually see when u r in light sleep n when u have movement and how it changes from night to night.

      Good luck!

Do androids dream of electric sheep?

I swore you wrote electricsheep and proceeded to search for an app like that. ElectricSheep has developed apps for android. I was greatly confused when I didn't find any sleeping app from them.

Now I see you wrote electricSLEEP. I'm going to try it as well.

My suggestion is that you wake up naturally. It's harder but looking back I don't recall having any success when I set alarms (which I did A LOT) but the few times I woke up after/during a dream without an alarm clock success came rather easily.

      Good luck!
      I'd be very thankful.

Just record a few phrases on your phone or PC as seperate files, zip them and put the .zip on MegaUpload. Then you can post the link here, or PM me.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to use the files.

      Something like:

      "You are dreaming."
      "You're dreaming."
      "Dreaming."
      "This is a dream."

      etc, use your discretion.

I'll see what I can do, I will probably not be able to have this done with link posted here until this weekend. Work week is very time consuming for me, but the weekend will be no problem.

Lmao! Sorry, should've made that more apparent.... guess your signature "getting things wrong since '92" is a pretty accurate description of you...

Hope the app helps... this will be my third night using it!

These should be perfect. Thank you very much, Nilabimini.

I recomend the rest of you try them out too.

I amplified the files slightly, cleaned up the background noise and put them on my phone set to go off every half hour during peak REM time, and repeat for three minutes.

I'm feeling a lot more confident right now than I ever have about acheiving lucidity. I'll keep you posted.
