I lucid dream differently than others

I've read many tutorials and articles on lucid dreaming, and they all say the same things on how to lucid dream: reality checks and WILDs. I've never been able to WILD and have tried many times, and I have become lucid during dreams, but never with reality checks. I've only ever become lucid for no reason. It's a dream, nothing clues me off as being weird, and I don't ever do RCs in dreams, I just become lucid. I just know. I've talked to other lucid dreamers, and they don't know, so I was wondering if anyone else experiences this.

Thats not different from others, thats how most people become lucid actually. It is way more strange to find someone who becomes lucid through RCs (like me) than someone who just realizes.

I know what u mean it's like u automatically switch from a subconscious state to a conscious one. Would be nc to know what triggers this :-

This happened in my first LD. I wasn't all like, "Wait, scenario X could never happen IRL. I wonder if I'm dreaming," I was like, "O hay, I'm dreaming. Imma fly now." I think this happens to many people, but there isn't much you can really say about it, so it's not brought up often (what I mean is that there seems to be no technique to it).
I don't usually think, therefore I mostly am not.

Likewise, you cant teach some one who looks for facts to have faith in the absence of facts.

thats exactly how i do it almost every time. just have to be aware. but if i use the mnemonic MILD method it often increases my chances of LD drastically.

Exactly. I use some method to try to increase my chances, but when I actually do become lucid I'm usually just strolling along in a dream and for little or no reason I'll say out loud "Oh, I'm dreaming." And from there everything changes.

I think that the whole "do a reality check then realize your dreaming" thing is a bit misleading. It seems like many people, including me, just become lucid, then Do some reality check to verify if necessary.

I believe it is a pretty complicated phenomenon with innumerable variables affecting when and how someone becomes lucid. It could be a dreamsign, or dreamlike qualities which become apparent in a dream causing the dreamer to become aware of their state of consciousness. It could simply be the mental recognition that one has no idea what they were doing an hour ago. Exactly how effective are reality checks performed randomly as opposed to reality checks performed whenever some physical cue acts as a reminder? Stephen Laberge's prospective memory training exercises suggest that reality checking in response to specific events or experiences (e.g. walking through a door) can be highly effective. Does there have to be some dream experince causing lucidity to take place or is it possible for recognition to arise solely based on the previous intention to remember?

I doubt we currently have anywhere close to an in-depth understanding of how DILD techniques (talking about the broad category here) really function.

This could just me a passive form of MILD. If you think about dreaming, write on this forum, or just hear something about dreaming it could be triggering your realization in the dream. So a subconscious memory as you may call it. This awareness or recall is only available while you aren't conscious or in a different state of mind (Dreaming), so instead of your conscious mind that's remembering (Like in a MILD) your subconcious would be remembering in a SMILD (Subconscious memory Induced Lucid Dream)
This is all theory don't take it as fact lol

      subconscious memory,
a thought, sensation, or feeling that is not immediately available for recall to the conscious mind.
