Going through all stages of falling asleep while awake?

Not sure if this should go here and I really wouldn't know what to search or what the method is called 9i am only familiar with WILDing).

Basically, just relax a ton before you go to bed. Lie very still and tell yourself you're going to fall asleep/dream. Numbness, spinning/falling sensation, then the weirdest part is I could feel my eyes moving back and forth inside my head... I understand this happens during REM sleep, but it felt very uncomfortable for me, so I woke myself up. I was able to move all my body parts, so I hadn't fallen asleep yet.

Does anyone know what this is called or if there is a method that uses it? From what I can tell by researching, this would last about an hour before you actually went into REM sleep and started dreaming and who knows what weird stuff could happen inbetween.

Also, sorry if the answer is obvious, but again, I am only familiar with the WILD technique.

That sounds like sleep paralysis, and therefore the WILD technique. Except, that is, for the moving. Sometimes you're able to move in SP, but usually minutely and not as if you could just get up and walk away.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Hmm, well it only sounds like regular eye movements you get when trying to fall asleep. Try to ignore it and you're on your way with the WILD.

I didn't even wake up from anything, though. This is just when I was going to bed at like 11:00 PM after a full day of being active.
