In the middle of a WBTB... When I woke up, I did something really wierd.

Doing a 10-minute WBTB right now.

Woke up, then did something really weird - I was holding my hand out, moving it along the part where the front end of the mattress meets the headboards of the bed, looking for a "timeline" so I could drag it back to the beginning. I fully believed that there was some sort of linear timeline there, be it physical or sort-of-physical-that-is-also-on-a-screen. Not sure what I was thinking, but it took me a few moments to snap out of it. I've been working in a video editing program a lot over the past few days, but this was really stupid.

I've never experienced this hiccup in logic while awake, consciously anyways. I'm sure this was me just being half-asleep, my brain not fully turned on. Somebody please tell me they've also done goofy things like this when they first got up in the middle of the night?

Also, I just had to listen to some music for a few moments. It's funny because it sounds so much faster than when I'm wide awake!

my mind does this to me all the time. just between sleep and waking, I go into these strange logic loops where I'm pursuing some goal and thinking through concepts and ideas that I have absolutely no ability to recall afterwards

Once I woke up in the middle of the night and I think I had some sort of portal weapon. I shooted at the wall at my side and at the floor.
This happened when I played a lot of Portal 2.
      I wasn't even aware.

Last night I set my intention to wake after my REM periods, when I awoke I think I was lying for what felt like half an hour with a random daydream about a nature on doc Grizzly bears. I literally thought 'what the hell, I'm awake'.

I one of my dreams, I WILDed inside the dream while not lucid, very odd experience. The transition felt like a subway train hit me, and I was lucid during the dream scene of the WILD until I 'awoke' to the same non-lucid dream in the same place :S

I've WILDed and DEILDed within non-lucid dreams before... It's definitely wierd. Sometimes I actually do enter a new dream and become lucid, but without knowing the WILD or DEILD was fake until I wake up!

I love stuff like this. We do such weird stuff when we have just woken up. My fiancee woke up, ripped a page out of the book I was reading, and blew her nose in it.

What's more bizarre is that I've never successfully WILDed for real, yet I have had a few dreams where I have WILDed in way that seems utterly convincing.

You weren't fully awake. The mind can easily go into a state where your eyes are open, you body is working, but your brain is dreaming. I can very easily do it to you through hypnosis. When I hypnotize people, they are in exactly that state

Haha, stuff like that happens to me sometimes....Usually I feel that I have thousands of eyes, and thats why its so hard to wake up, because I have to open them all.

      That's awesome. o_o

This was the first time I (remember) doing something like this, so it was a bit of a mind-bleep when I woke out of it.

You've probably done it before, usually in that state you don't remember anything. If it weren't for people sleeping next to me, I wouldn't know half the strange things I've done in sleepy states. I once sat up, told the girl I was with that smurfs were surrounding us, then passed back out.

I'm sure I have done things like that before! I just wish there was someone around to witness the things I didn't remember doing.

ya ive had stuff like that happen too. Once my friend fell asleep on the couch so i told him he could go upstairs and crash there for the night, i got him up but could tell he wasnt all there because id be like "over here Chris " every few steps, he would go to my voice then stop. Eventually i got him up the stairs but he randomly went back down and into my kitchen... so i asked him what he was doing and he said "getting pizza" even though we never had any to begin with. In the morning he didnt remember it at all.

That's what video cameras are for. Video yourself sleeping. You will be amazed at some of the weird stuff that happens. Most of the time, you think you slept all the way through the night. I promise that if you video yourself all night, you will see several spots where you actually wake up. And you might get lucky and see one of those weird cases.

I don't have a video camera, just a crappy iPod camera and that on my MacBook. I do have a canon elph, but the video time's like twenty minutes. I really want to try that now, though!

I do this kind of thing all the time when I'm halfway between sleeping and waking (either falling asleep or waking up). Normally I'm not physically doing something, but I've had some ridiculously illogical trains of thought going. When I do wake up, all I can think is "what???"
