Lightbulb Does your mind ever correct the abnormalities of your dreams?

I recalled a dream this morning, and I began to notice that on numerous occasions, the bizarre aspects of the dreams were corrected JUST as I began to question them.

Most of these corrections occurred while I was looking away momentarily, and I looked back to find that the abnormality had been normalised. For example, during the dream I noticed that a Teacher from my school was lying in my parents bed watching TV, I looked away for less than a second, while questioning this and than looked back to find that it was actual a family relation lying there. I carried on and noted it as my mistake.

Another example: I was walking down my road, when I noticed a young couple entering their car. Both the lady and the man entered on the same side and sat atop each other as if it was completely normal, once again, I questioned this while looking away momentarily and looked back to find that what I initially thought was a lady in a frock was actually a very young child sitting on the lap of her father. I carried on, and told myself that it was probably due to me not looking properly.

All of the times that these normalisations occurred, I was on the edge of lucidity. It seems that my mind wants to deprive me of it.

Has this every happened to you? (Oh, and sorry for writing so much)

That didn't happen to me before I began becoming lucid regularly. Once, I remember a woman ramming a metal pole into another woman's rear end, who happened to have a tail. The aggressor then challenged the victim to open a nearby door or something. No strangeness corrected.

Hahaha. Yea stuff similar to this happens to me A LOT. Except, instead of it being corrected, I wake up. I often get surges of awareness or vividness in a dream and I start to question things. As soon as I start putting the pieces together *BOOM* I wake up.

Example: For some reason my dad is shooting me with a weak gun. The bullets don't go through me and it doesn't hurt. I'm supposed to dodge them for practice. All of a sudden, one of the bullets pierces right through the middle of my forehead. I start to freak. My dad says that was a rare mistake! I think I am going to die soon, and my dad just gets a couple of paper towels to wipe the blood off. I run to the mirror to look at the bullet wound. There is no wound. My forehead looks fine.

EVERYTHING in the dream becomes totally silent as I stare at my forehead in the mirror and my awareness surges.

A bullet wound can't just disappear, I think. Am I... *WAKES UP*

No, this has not happened to me. You could try doing an RC every time you think that weird thing you saw was just you not seeing it correctly.

Sometimes this happens but more often than not, my brain tries to justify the strange things that happen. I was on the edge of lucidity when I saw sharks flying through the sky but then a DC said there could be a waterspout nearby. When I turned around, there it was. : /

LOL, I can imagine. It's saddening that my head is so eager to not let me realise.

Yeah, I've heard justifying the random shiz is pretty common round here. (Tends to lead to those lovely facepalm moments, when you wake up. ) But it's the first I've heard of the abnormal things being actively corrected inside a dream.
