      Dying in a Lucid Dream.

I have heard a lot of things about dying in lucid dreams (most of which I think are slightly exaggerated.) but I really want to try it. So If I were to Intentionally die in a lucid dream, could I like enter a dream afterlife thing?. or would I wake up. I'm Not really sure why I want to try but it sounds like something to add a little spice to my morning.

Most of the time you hear of people waking up after "dying" in a lucid dream. So if you were jump off a building or something, I assume you'd wake up. You know, kind of like a "kick" from Inception.

Then again, I haven't tried killing myself yet in any LD, so I'm just going by what most people say...

Why would someone want to commit suicide or die in a LD? I assume you'd just wake up like in a normal dream when you die, and the LD is wasted.

From my experience dying in a regular dream causes me to wake up (completely). Dying in a lucid dream causes me to have a FA (which is when i then remember to to do a RC and get lucid... again! )
Have a question? Send me a pm.

Though I usually wake up after I die in a dream, I have had exceptions.
I remember one (non lucid) dream I had years ago, where eventually I got killed. But instead of waking up, my dream changed. I was somehow back alive, attending some kind of party. There was a barbecue, with my body (from when I got killed) on top of it. A little while later I ate my own roasted body and woke up.

Maybe I should start a dream journal on DreamViews.

I don't understand how someone could accidently die in a lucid dream though when you can fly, pause time, morph yourself into anything morph other things into anything, teleport, create or destroy everything around you just by thinking it, turning yourself invisible invincible and un killable.

Wow!! You must have serious dream control!!! I've never been able to do ANY of those things (except fly), even though I've been lucid about as many times as you have!!

Well when you go lucid imagine it's the matrix. dont think you can do it, know you can do it.
Bring something from a video game or film like a wand from harry potter as a source of control.

Back on topic, ive died within a non lucid before and i thought i was dead and it suddenly became VERY vivid, like a dream within a dream

I think it depends on the person. If dying is your way of getting out of a nightmare, (whenever I have a nightmare, Jason is chasing me in this barn and I'm going slowmotion. Then as soon as I reach the stairs, I can run fast again and jump out a window and instantly wake up). This also could happen if you get too worked up. I think if you imagine you'll go to an afterlife, you probably will. I'll try it out!

The key (as lucydity said) to dream control is believing without a doubt that you can do anything you want. You wanna slow down time? Well, find some way that makes sense to you--for me, I just yell really loud "TIME STOP" or "TIME SLOW," and I believe that the volume that I yell it in (very loud like a concert) allows me to bend and control time. Find something that makes sense, such as how you would do it in a video game, or how they do it in a film, etc. For example, you could think of a movie like Mortal Kombat (or the game, for that matter), and a move that Sub Zero does where he makes a ice ball thing to shoot at enemies. Just think of anything you want to do, and link it to something you've previously seen--and boom, you now can do it in a dream.

Alternatively, you can simply expect for something to be a certain way--such as an object to be in a certain place because you left it there, or expect for gravity to be less because you're on the moon, etc. Anything like that.

Sorry if I was confusing, but I tried to get the point across Good luck in mastering dream control!

Anything could happen, you could wake up, or continue the lucid dream, and create a heaven/hell, etc.

I did sorta visit what might've been heaven once after i died in a LD, but it was just a big bright white light for like 10 seconds =\

When I was little and naive. I used to have lucids all the time, but no control and no matter how hard I tried I could never wake myself up. So I always resorted to killing myself and that was guaranteed to wake me up.

I once got chased into a building by a bunch of corrupt cops in a lucid. I knew there was no way out so I decided to explode myself and take them all with me in the fall. I expected to wake up, but as it turned out I just teleported to the front door of my flat (was also my first teleport in a lucid, though I sooooo didn't try and haven't been able to do it since) =P

I remember when I was younger I had a recurring dream of falling out of my second story window, with a wooden playground below(it was actually out front). Every time I fell, it felt like I was falling face first, and I could see every detail of the grass. I would end up landing face first and the place the wooden pole met the ground, or so I assume, because I never actually ht the ground. I don't think I've ever died in a dream. It might be something to try when I actually get LDing down haha.
